5.0 out of 5 stars It's good
If you just got into Kid Rock with "Devil Without a Cause", then you might be a bit shocked/disappointed by this album. It's nothing like DWAC, it's straight old school rap. It's a good album, but you gotta remember it was put out a long time ago so it's hard to picture people pumping it today. Try Kid's other albums, Polyfuze Method and early Mornin' Stoned...

1.0 out of 5 stars Kid Rock's most lackluster album
For those who don't know...Kid Rock was originally a Beastie-style rock/rapper from Detroit not a Southern act. Take a look at the cover of The Polyfuze Method to see what he really looks like. If you're expecting Grit Sandwiches to be anything like his recent music, you will likely be horribly disappointed. And that's not only because his style is different, this...

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid before he sold out, August 25, 2004

This review is from: Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast (Audio CD)
I bought this CD back in '91 because both TooShort and D Nice plugged it. I was surprised at how bad ass this white dude was from Michagan. Unfortunatly making music you love doesnt always make money, for instance this album NEVER made any money. Id probably sell out too if it ment a few nights with Pam. Kid isnt the only guy who went pop, Everlast had a pretty funky sound and was down with Big Daddy Kane and he went guitar hillbilly just like Kid. So I cant hate on him too bad.

If you like Kids current stuff , this isn't your album, if you dig old school rap, the golden age of rap when I was rockin tapes like, Life is TooShort, Power, and Straight Outta Compton, in my pull out deck with auto reverse, then you will like this CD

5.0 out of 5 stars the good ole' days, March 26, 2001
This review is from: Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast (Audio CD)
this CD strongly represents what street rap used to be before it sold out to mainstream music. i do agree, this cd may be for the die hard kid rock fan (such as myself) but music is music and if it's good listen to it no matter where it comes from. if it's real you'll feel it or maybe you just don't know music!

5.0 out of 5 stars Very good, September 26, 1999

For those of you who have put down Kid Rock's new CD you people don't know caca. I am from Los Angeles and I was around when rap first got off the ground. Let me say he has a very good style and very refreshing. He has the ability to rap and rock and make it work.

1.0 out of 5 stars Kid Rock's most lackluster album, September 17, 2007
This review is from: Grits Sandwiches for Breakfast (Audio CD)
For those who don't know...Kid Rock was originally a Beastie-style rock/rapper from Detroit not a Southern act. Take a look at the cover of The Polyfuze Method to see what he really looks like. If you're expecting Grit Sandwiches to be anything like his recent music, you will likely be horribly disappointed. And that's not only because his style is different, this album is just mediocre at best - almost no matter how you look at it.

Don't think I'm a Kid Rock hater. The Polyfuze Method is one of my favorite albums and I bought it new 14 years ago. At the time Kid Rock was a nobody outside of Detroit but a local music store in Lincoln, Nebraska had Polyfuze in a listening station. I bought the CD as a gag gift because of the song "Balls In Your Mouth" but later grew to love the long list of great songs on the CD.

That being said, Grit Sandwiches is pretty bad. The beats aren't there and the rap is rather simplistic in both content and delivery. Considering License To Ill was released in '86, this CD doesn't get the job done. I would recommend this CD only to people who are extremely in to 80's style rap or Kid Rock completionists. For sure download it before spending big bucks on this OOP CD.

WOWEEEE! KID ROCK AT THE TENDER YOUNG AGE OF NINETEEN! IT IS A FAR CRY FROM DEVIL WITHOUT A CAUSE, BUT IT SURE IS A GOODIE. SONGS LIKE YO-DA-LIN IN THE VALLEY AND WAX THE BOOTY WILL HAVE YA ROLLIN' ON THE FLOOR. IT HAS A SORT OF BEASTIE BOY RING TO IT, SO IF YOU ARE A KID ROCK FAN, INTO EARLY BEASTIE BOYS RAP OR EVEN HAVE A LITTLE TWISTED HUMOR, THIS ONE IS A MUST HAVE!

Man, this CD really takes me back to the days when my friends and I would bust out the linoleum and break dance on the street corner. I was one of the few girls in the group who could do a wicked back spin. The lyrics are a bit juvenile, but still a lot of fun. My favorite tracks are "Yo-Da-Lin In The Valley", "Abdul Jabbar Cut", "Step In Stride" and "With A One-Two". GRITS has given me one more reason to love Kid Rock!

I am basically a rock fan (Motley Crue, Scorps, Triumph, etc.) but this is the coolest "new" band I have heard in years. Kid Rock has a hard edge, fresh sounds, and a street attitude. All I can say is his music makes me want to f**k my brains out and raise hell. And by the way, I'm a girl.
