5.0 out of 5 stars Great tool, as must have for fine mill work., December 23, 2010

Recived the tool in ready to go condition. First project was putting a bevel to the end of a set of table legs. Took no more than seconds to get each one perfect. Next was two picture frames, cut them close with the miter saw and trimed them to a miter I have never been able to acheive with any other tool. Used it to make a face frame, a tighter joint you could not ask for. The pull out handle makes for easy storage, and set up is a no brainer. This is a must have tool if you want top of the line work. Wish I had one years ago.

I got this miter chopper to put a finished edge on picture frames. I've been using it on a composite wood frame material that is covered with a faux finish that looks like wood. These frames are common at frame shops (real wood is more difficult to find these days) and come in 10 ft lengths. I first chop miters to about 1/16 over finished length on a DeWalt power miter saw, and then shave about 1/32 off each end with the Grizzly knife chopper. It gives a very smooth and finished edge ready for gluing. Occasionally the faux finish which appears to be some type of plastic tape(?) has a feather left that is easily removed with one or two strokes with fine sand paper. The knives are sharp when the machine arrives and after about 25 cuts still seem sharp. This appears to be the same unit offered by some woodworking stores for more $$ than the Grizzly price. Overall, I'm a satisfied customer.

I use one these miter trimmer about 37 years ago and it made the job of trimming out furniture that I was making with such ease. Now that I am back into that type of work again I had to get one of my own. I am so happy I did, it makes trimming out my project so ease and the joints glue together so seamlessly that my customer are bragging about how well thing look to there friends.
