I got one of these from Grizzly for a workbench I am building. It was shipped by New Penn Motor Express. When it arrived I helped the driver unload it. I noticed several dings on the cardboard. I thought it would not be enough to damage a hard maple benchtop and I was in a hurry to get it into the house. I did not note the damage on the BOL. When I unwrapped the top I was dismayed to see damage in several places, several of which I thought were significant. I think I would have to hit it as hard as I could with a framing hammer to do the same damage. I realized I was out of luck because I had signed off on the BOL. After e-mailing photos of the damage to Grizzly they offered to send me a $50 gift certificate.

Other than the damaged places the top does look nice---no damage would have rated five stars. If you get anything from Grizzly or that has been shipped by New Penn, I recommend that you check it carefully for damage before signing off on the BOL.

My wife purchased this workbench top for me with the shop fox leg system a couple of years ago for my garage workshop.

Unfortunately, within 6 months, the top had bowed to the point it was measurable, and now, 2-3 years later, the top is unuseable for doing any carpentry work on, as the center of the top is about 1/4" lower than the outer edges. Placing any large pieces on the workbench requires me to shim the middle of the piece to get it square, and I'll be replacing this top soon with a box/mdf top instead.

I found this bowing to be very unusual, due to the laminated nature and thickness/weight of the benchtop, and as such, I'm wondering if it's the combination of the workbench top and the shop fox legs that somehow puts a strain on the top, causing it to warp.

Also, my workshop is in my garage, in Texas heat/humidity, and it's conceivable that humidity changes somehow cause the bending... my second workbench, which is simply reinforced Birch veneered plywood hasn't exhibited the same problem

As with one of the previous reviewers, my workbench top also arrived scarred/nicked, although I wasn't overtly worried about it since it was pretty much a cosmetic issue and this top was destined for a shop, not a kitchen counter.

I'm sad this top didn't work out for me, as I had intended it to be the centerpiece of the shop, around which everything else was arranged.

The top I received looked as though it had been through a war. They either need to change shippers or package this product so it can be shipped more than a couple of blocks.
I had this product shipped twice!! The first was returned, the second I didn't even bother taking it off the truck.
When I contacted Grizzly they suggested I buy it from a local source. In other words take your business elsewhere. I find it incredible that a company that ships products all over the world can't seem to package it properly so that it will arrive in reasonable condition. The "Shop Fox" supports I bought with this were in TERRIBLE shape! A local merchant says Shop FOX is owned by Grizzly and they sluff off their damaged or unsaleable products through Grizzly. I got a quote for a butcher block breakfast bar for $1200. Instead, I bought the wood from Grizzly, Inc myself for $200 and installed it myself. It looks great!

I got this top for a workshop bench but it is nice enough to use in a kitchen. Shipped from Grizzly quickly although the trucking company held it for a few days until they shipped to me. They were still easy to work with on delivry though. The top is pretty heavy so some might need help with it. All in all it was well worth the money. Could not purchase wood and make it myself as well for the price.

I was nervous about buying given the previous poor reviews regarding transport of this product. My top arrived via UPS freight. It arrived without any damage. Top looks great and I'm looking forward to installing it. The finish of the top met expectations. Looks good but obviously can't speak for it's durability.

I've only had this for a week or so, but it's really nice. One of the corners in the packing was broken though, so it got a bit dented. Seeing as it's a work bench it's not a big deal and I'm not going to return it, but still a little annoying. The thing weighs about 100 lb which isn't a bad thing, just something to be aware of.
