4.0 out of 5 stars Great alternative to a full size lathe
I found this drill press attachment easy to setup and use! It did a great job fitting on my 8" drill press and worked better than exspected. Only reason I didn't rate it a 5 star was because it is a little difficult shapeing a spindal vertically instead of horizontally.

1.0 out of 5 stars DANGEROUS AT BEST, COULD NOT GIVE IT A ZERO
Tried this $20 alternative to investing in a lathe. I needed to turn a couple pieces of wood for a model train. Tried this $20 alternative to investing in a lathe. I needed to turn a couple pieces of wood for a model train. Found the following: Very difficult to get the top and bottom supports centered exactly on a drill press. Remember you have to try and put pressure on the piece while you are trying to move the drill press chuck around to find the center. Tool support is round and difficult to hold tools to it. You also can't do shorter pieces due to the 12" length. The bar will typically interfer with the drill press as you lower lower it. The vertical mount of the tool rest also makes it difficult to control the carving tools. The worst part is my industrial drill press has way too much vibration for this type of work. I would suspect other drill presses would be similar. You just can't have much vibration, especially at higher speeds. Finally, it's also difficult to get the tool rest close to your work as you begin to decrease the diameter of the wood. Same problem due to the 12" bar that will interfer with the chuck. I invested in the Jet benchtop lathe. I'm sure I will use it for other projects.

I don't have space to store/use a full size bench lathe, so this little one fills the bill. It does not have the full features of a bench or floor model, but for the price and what I need, it's one "Little Lathe That Could".
