The Grobag egg allows you to easily monitor the temperature of your baby's room at a glance. The Grobag egg glows yellow if the room temperature is within recommended guidelines (61-67°F). When I first plugged in this thermometer, the temp reading was at least 5-6 degrees too high (I checked its accuracy with another thermometer I trust). However, I thought with all of the shifting during shipping it might need some time to readjust. I left it plugged in for a couple of hours and came back to check; the temperature reading was spot on! I have to wonder if all of the other consumers with bad reviews for this product did the same thing, or if they turned it on for a minute, got frustrated, and quickly returned it. If I turn it off (there is an on/off button on the underside) then back on, it needs about 5 minutes before reading the right temp. I leave it on constantly to avoid this problem. This thermometer gives off a nice gentle glow in whatever color, truly the perfect night light. You do have to look straight at it to see the temp as the reading is recessed in a little window. But the color of the egg tells me all I need to know with a passing glance; I mostly just check to see if it is yellow or orange, and also stop and think about how comfortable I feel in the temp of the room since the temp ranges in those two colors from 61 to 75 degrees.

I must admit I nearly didn't buy this item--the reviews were mixed and numerous people said they had trouble with the product. I've had no such trouble and am glad I purchased it! I tested it out in a room that I knew the temperature of--the egg said the temperature was very close (it said 68 and the temperature on my digital thermometer in the kitchen said 67.4 so that's close enough for me!) so I went ahead and put it in the baby's room and it has been fairly accurate for the last month. The hotter it gets in the house the more "off" it seems to be, but it's still not off by much--a degree or two at most. I like this product because I can just glance in and see the color and know whether it's too hot or too cold or just right (while I know I could base it off my perception of the temperature, I tend to always be hot when others are comfortable so I don't want to assume). I recommend this product as it has worked for me!

I love gadgets so I thought this would be great. This is a good tool for determining the temperature of the room, however I don't believe it is real accurate. I had to return the first one because it was defective. Customer service was great. I received a working one quickly. The 2nd one I received did work but I would still not trust the accuracy of the temperature.

When I purchased this it was for our first baby. It wasn't used much because of the issues stated, but now with three kids even if this product did work great it's not necessary.
