5.0 out of 5 stars Rockwool Starter Plugs - 1.5 inch, 98 cubes
I have used Rockwool starter cubes for years, both for seeds and cuttings in my hydroponics systems.
This is the first time using this generic brand but are the same as others I have purchased from local stores, except they are cheaper here.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockwool Starter Plugs - 1.5 inch, 98 cubes, March 22, 2011

I have used Rockwool starter cubes for years, both for seeds and cuttings in my hydroponics systems.
This is the first time using this generic brand but are the same as others I have purchased from local stores, except they are cheaper here.
As for instructions, do you really need them, If you don't know about rockwool then you should read up on it on the internet to make sure it fits your needs and purpose for the type of plants you plan to grow, there is almost as many variations of how to use this product as there are plants.

Rockwool is a trade name not a brand.

Breathing the dust of rockwool can be hazardous to your health

Also to answer another reviewers question, Rockwool is a fibrous material made from molten rock. It is NOT biodegradable but mishandled will crumble to a fine dust

Pros:
Cheap cost same quality as most name brands
Hole in middle to place seed or cutting.
Convenient cut or tear squares.

Cons:
None

Mine shipped without a bag, label or instructions but that doesn't really bug me too much. As other reviewers have noted, this is "economy" rockwool - it comes in a big sheet as pictured and you break the individual plugs off. This means they're a little rougher around the edges and a bit more powdery than the somewhat costlier rockwool products. If you're just looking for a good, cost effective rockwool then this will suffice.

Just ordered a second set. These work just fine and as far as I can tell, are the least expensive.

I have tried the peat plugs, sponges, larger rock cubes, loose seeding soil.. and this product is just as good, better than some of the above and very easy.

Very economical way to buy this product. Mine had instructions - just rinse with suggested ph adjuster and use.

I am just amazed at how this little cubes work so well. It does not matter whether I am using for starting seed or my cuttings from mother. I have never lost one and the rooting time is very very short. Try these you'll be glad you did.

This review is from: Grodan A-OK 1.5" Starter Plug, Sheet of 98
Grodan Rock Wool Starter Plugs are good sterile option for anyone using cuttings. Of all the methods for cloning this seems to be the simplest to use.
I thought the product was very useful for the serious and causal gardener.
