Good for beginners
I've used this headgear since Oct, 2009. It really is good value for money for the beginner/intermediate fighter - primarily for the following two reasons; 1) it's reasonably light. A heavy strike will be felt! 2) it has no inside shell. So a strike gets felt at the point of contact and not transferred around the head. Particularly in the jawline. Some more expensive...

good face protection but....
not much impact protection...padding seems light...we wuse 16oz gloves and its still a shock getting tagged with this on....the face piece is solid though and the fit is easy if a little unders sized so order up one size. all and all ok for the priece and average use but would not want to get hit in this stuff regularly still looking for a more heavily padded replacement

I've used this headgear since Oct, 2009. It really is good value for money for the beginner/intermediate fighter - primarily for the following two reasons; 1) it's reasonably light. Some more expensive headgear seemed to have this feature, but was out of my price range.
Aside from those issues you should know that the mask does block some vision. I have continually hoped that the Force would be with me, but just assume you'll be hit by a few strikes you didn't see coming. Construction is otherwise very good, as is the comfort. I wear a bandana under mine so it doesn't slip all over my head (or require me to tighten it too much).
