Sorry, this is just NOT a good book.,

This review is from: Groomed for Death (Mass Market Paperback)
It's written in a breezy, "I know you won't believe this, but..." manner that overlooks basic character motivations. It is filled with stereotypes. How does the heroine know, for example, that the t-shirt seller she gallops past in Central Park on a Park Ranger's horse is "a little Filipino man"? Sorry, but I cannot recommend a book where ALL African-American women wear door-knocker earrings. If you're looking for an adult book about horses, try BARBARA DIMMICK, or JODY JAFFE if you want a mystery. Props to Banks, though, for quoting "Heads Up, Heels Down". Now THERE'S a book I'd rather read.

I laughed out loud at Robin's hilarious situations. A difinite page-turner you don't want to miss! And don't miss DEATH BY DRESSAGE, that's my favorite!

Groomed for Death is GREAT,

A knowledge of horses, combined with a sense of humor make this well paced mystery a delight as we follow the adventures of Robin Vaughan, a Texas horsewoman.

When I first heard of the series by Carolyn Banks, I grabbed the two that I could find at the library and this was one of them. I was instantly hooked! This is an extremely good book, both it and Death by Dressage are the best, and if I could find more, I'd get them!

Another entertaining novel by Carolyn Banks!,

This is another novel featuring Robin Vaughan, who now finds herself in New York and, inevitably, comes across another mystery! I love Carolyn's light-hearted writing, which never fails to make me laugh out loud at least a few times while reading each book. If you have liked her other novels "Death By Dressage", "Murder Well Bred" etc, then you will certainly like this one too. If you have never read anything by Carolyn before, but you are looking for a mystery with a big dose of humour, then look no further!

Weak story development, boring,
By
This review is from: Groomed For Death (Kindle Edition)
Very weak plot, weak character development, just all around weak. The paperback is only 178 pages, so at least it's a quick, boring read. The story jumps all around incidents that don't build to anything, they just seem disjoint. The climax writing left me with the impression that the author was just tired of writing this story and wrapped it up in a hurried, ridiculous manner. Even though I'm addicted to horses and love dressage, I was bored by the sappy, shallow references to attempt to showcase the author's knowledge. Don't bother to read this book, I imagine the author's friends wrote the 4 or 5 star recommendations.
