Great pads, ok game.,

This review is from: In the Groove Dance Pad/Game Bundle for PlayStation 2 (Video Game)
These soft pads are some of the best you can get, and for the price they are the best on the market. The game is ok if you are good at ddr, but if you are new to it you should get supernova as well since it is MUCH easier. I can do just about every song on the hardest mode on supernova and get an A, but when it comes to In the Groove I am lucky if I can get a B on the hardest mode. If you are getting this bundle for the pads you will be satisfied.

The mats are of pretty high quality and well worth the price. the songs i dont enjoy very much which is why i'll be buying a ddr game as opposed to in the groove. this is just personal preference though

I will go so far as to say this is better than any comperable ddr or ddr product I have ever played or played on. The pads (for being this foam) are probobly the best you can get, especialy for the price. The game has 70+ songs which is more than any DDR game i have ever played for ps2 and there are 5 difficulties on most songs so no shortige of content. If you are a more hardcor gamer then you will love the battle mode and that there are more than enough arrow modifiers to keep you entertained. This game was probobly the most satisfying buy on amazon yet.

I've just started playing DDR about a week and a half ago and just got the ITG bundle. I mainly got it for the pads, tbh. The konami that I got with SN2 is already showing signs of not wanting to work consistently. I play for about an hour to an hour and a half (it's hard to stop once you start!). I'm also using this for exercise and I'm older (53) with arthritis.
Now, I'd read some reviews on the pads saying they are good, but a little wacky. Wacky how? Standing square in the middle, not moving, can "trigger" a sensor and then you've got the menu or songlist moving a mile a minute. I thought, nah, they're standing in the wrong spot. But it's true, this pad does do that. So it's gonna take some practice to find the "sweet spots" for the sensors and where to stand when you're just starting to play. Another thing to do (which I didn't in my excitement) ... unwrap the pads and lay them gently over a chair for a couple of days to get the folds/wrinkles out. I think that would've helped me today. The pads are made so much better than the default DDR game bundle flat pads. They don't skate across the floor the way the konami ones do, they feel a little better underfoot and the top's a tiny bit 'sticky', which is a good thing. The ITG pad did not move while I played, but it did bunch up in the lower left corner - not good. I may have to do some sort of soft pad mod (the wood/plastic principle which won't work for me - arthritis and roomie right under me), but using some dense foam and some sort of plastic/non slip something on the bottom and attaching it to the pad.

For someone who is looking to try our DDR type games, this is a great value. The game + 2 dance pads is prefect to get a feel for these games. I would recommend controller extension cables if your PS2 is not located close to the floor, though. The cords on the dance pads are not very long.

You really can't go wrong with this dea! We bought the bundle for the dance pads to use with DDR (each pad alone is worth the purchase price and you get 2 in the bundle). These soft pads are much better than the cheapos that you find at most stores. They are very responsive and the "non slip" surface on the bottom is very good (you won't find the pad turning and moving on you as much as most soft pads). As it turns out the game is actually pretty good too. While I wouldn't say it's quite as fun as DDR because the songs are not as well known, my 7 year old daughter loves it. Overall it's worth buying just for the pads and getting a pretty good game in the bargain just makes it a sweet deal.

I've tried many ddr games- DDR Extreme series, DDR max, and more. They all SUCK compare to In the Groove. This game has over 70 songs!!! and everytime you get like a B on a medium level song you unlock a new song! You get to unlock basically a whole new video game- In the Groove 2. It's built into In the groove.. you can unlock all the songs from In the Groove 2. And there are SO many features its unbelievable. The songs are AMAZING and just about every type of mood can be captured. And the game pads-- simply incredible. I've used other types of game pads purchased for over 20 dollars EACH and they did not last nearly as long or were as sensitive. These were the best game pads I've used. And to get 2 game pads AND the game in one box for less than 20 bucks... that's just rediculous. I was skeptical when I bought the set initially, thinking it would be a piece of crap. But I was pleasantly surprised! In fact this is the first review I've ever written for a product because I've never been this satisfied with an internet purchase in my life. Deserves more than five stars!!

I've tried the other DDR games and their pads. I've gone through two pads...slip and sliding around the floor, bunching up. I've even gone so far as to use duct tape to try and makeshift my own pad, which only solved the problem for so long. I use these pads on hardwood, and while not doing any HEAVY play, I can certainly jump up and down and back and forth without it shifting everywhere. I was amazed that TWO pads and a game fit in the tiny box, but it's all in there, full size and ready to go. The best part is the workout mode has so many options. You can select a level, and it allows you to keep going song by song - DDR would make you stop to reset or pick a new song, defeating the point of getting your heart rate up. Sorry downstairs neighbors, I plan on keeping this!

I am a late bloomer when it comes to DDR. I waited forever before really getting into it just recently and doing so has it's advantages. One such advantage is now being able to catch up with everyone else so cheaply! I fell in love with DDR and decided that I wanted to own all of the available titles for the PS2 when I came across this fantastic bundle. I originally thought it came with the "In The Groove" game and ONE dance pad but I was thrilled when I opened the box to see it comes with TWO DANCE PADS! What more could you ask for! And for only $20.
This game is awesome! It's an absolute blast to play with a friend, or a killer workout to go at on your own! It doesn't feature any big commercial hits, but it does feature an incredible soundtrack and I promise you'll fall in love with at least 4-5 songs the very first time you hear them. You're going to have a few of these tunes stuck in your head! The dance pads are also a steal at this price. The fact is I've used three different types of pads since I started playing DDR and these pads are my favorite. I now use them exclusively. They're soft and ultra responsive. My only note on them is that the directional arrows are so large that the center of the pad feels tight. If you have large feet you might find yourself accidentally standing on an arrow when trying to center yourself. It's a very minor point that's easily overlooked. Even if you already have the game and are just looking for some replacement/different dance pads, these are more than worth the cost of the product. |
