Good God...,

This review is from: Groove Family Cyco (Audio CD)
I recently pulled this out of my 1000+ collection because I wanted something different than the usual crap that comes out now days. I loved this band back in the day, and I have to say that I still find this freaking CD amazing today. It is great music...period. If you don't have this, you should be ashamed of yourself...pick it up immediately.

I give out a lot of five star reviews mostly because I only take the time to review the best stuff. This album is wonderful. Though I like the new album Mas Burracho slightly better, It wasn't a large enough gap to drop a star. Everything this band does is great. Though they can in some ways be compared to the Red Hot Chili Peppers, the Infectious Grooves have a harder edge and a distinct sound. Ignore the bad comments about this one! I happen to be a musician and a lover of old soul, latin, classic rock, jazz, etc. And I'll tell you right now these guys are GOOD! "Die like a Pig" and "Violent and Funky" are my favorite tracks. Bass player Robert Trujillo tears it up like you can't believe!

A drummers perspective,

If you like great drummers add Brooks Wackerman to the list. High energy, heavy speed metal, double bass, funk. It doesn't get any better than what Brooks does here. He is fluid with great all around technique. Guess it runs in the family. If you are drummer try playing along to this CD! I wish you luck.

the masters of funk- metal and of hardcore psychology,

Infectious grooves a.k.a groove family cyco epitomise for me music that falls into the category of Funk-Metal. I hate to be doing this to one of my favorite bands, putting labels on art that is, but this is just to put my point across. Infectious Grooves started out as what is called a super-group. memebers of Suicidal Tendencies and Jane's Addiction coming together to make what was a truly first great heavy but comic album, it seemed that all the tension and angst that was building up in Suicidal or maybe in Mike Muir's mind needed badly some comic relief. In Suicidal Muir was complaining that "nobody hears", Infectious was the musical break needed for this angry genius. The Grooves took a form that was building power in music and especially in California, a musical form of very rythmic metal with the likes of Faith No More, Primus and ofcourse the Chili Peppers and made it into an art-form if anyone ever took a musical genre and made it into perferction in its own field, it was the Infectious Grooves. In this album their third they do it once more although I still do consider this album as their least whole just because some songs are not on one level, but some of the songs are pure masterpieces, "Violent Funky" and actually the first five songs make up one of the stongest and hardest opening for a record that i have heard. A lot of more things can be said on this album and on this band, to finish things of i will just give the ingredients that make this wonderful rocking stew: a lot of bass, about a thousand cups of the non-picked-used kind, try to see if the store has the slapping and pulling kind, a quart of really effective rythmic drumming and two teaspoons of lyrics that you have to respect, and mix everything with amazing song-writing. After two listenings in the oven, it is baked and ready to eat. To taste this very yummy treat, you have to buy this album!!!

Couldn't be a better name for this group,
This review is from: Groove Family Cyco (Audio CD)
These guys are a riot, their music, their lyrics, and on top of it all off their humor. The funk they play is trully Infectious. The sound, rhythym, and beat washes over you and fills you with the groove. With their unique mixture of styles you'll go from intrigued to infected never realizing it till its too late. By the way just saw cousin Randy walking out of the pawn shop down on Main St.

I like the first 2 albums better. This album is more metal than funk. The others are first Funk then Metal :)
Trujillo's bass lines are REALLY REALLY awasome.

Maximum pleasure for your booty!,

This has to be the fav of all IG albums. Its got edge and agression, which I dont normally go for but it works in this case.
A real mixture as usual but heavier than previous. Violent & Funky set the scene with the meanest of bass riffs only to be topped by a wild guitar riff. Frustrated Again is hard out and Die like a Pig has probably the heaviest IG sound of all albums. Cousin randy has a more ST lyrical sound and fits the theme of the album well. I love the way this album finishes with Made it, starts out with a jazzy intro and cuts into a heavy riff then cools down, just oarsome! Deserves every star

To many songs about shooting, hurting, f*cking you up. The first 4 or 5 songs are great but the rest just get lost in mindless voilence. Someone please tell me how this is humurous.

It's idiotic that they accuse Rage Against the Machine of being hypocrites. How else is Rage going to get their message out there? Just like Morello said they could play to empty squats, but they need to be able to show people whats up. People need to wake up and i guess being endorsed by SONY so that later on, getting your message out could pay off was the idea Rage had. I say Infectious Groves' ideas blow, but the music isn't half bad.
