Exceptional voice - He will be missed @}->---,

I couldn't believe it when I heard this morning that Gerald had died at only 40 years old. Unbelievable. He was such an amazing talent - a powerful and silky smooth baritone voice that was gorgeous to listen to.
This is one of my favourite cd's of his. It has one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard on it - I'd Give Anything. That is a fantastic song that I still love after all of these years. I also really love Same Place, Same Time and Have Mercy. It's one of his best cd's and certainly one of my favourites (apart from G.). His voice was so full of emotion and it stands out here really well. It's a stunning love cd and it is full of bedroom music. I really recommend this to all R&B fans and fans of his in general. To know that we won't hear any more new music is the biggest shame. At least we can hear this over and over to hear his voice whenever we want. Go get a copy of this - it's worth every penny.

Groove On is Definitely One of Gerald's Best Pieces,
By
This review is from: Groove on (Audio CD)
This was Gerald's first solo CD and like with many first CDs, I believe it's his best of all of his CDs. I absolutely liked every cut except for the first cut which was the title cut "Groove On". I could do without that but hey, everything else makes up for it. This is real down home soul. This is the type of music babies are made on. I still say Luther was good but had nothing on Gerald. They are two different types artists. Luther sings nice and crisp, but when Gerald sings certain songs, you feel it down in your soul. I give this CD 5 Stars hands up. This CD is a collectors item and just full of good soul gritty Gerald Levert songs. You can not go wrong with this CD.

Absolutely Positively Outstanding,

This as definitely one of my most favorite cd's. This cd grooves nice and slow all the way through. This is a cd you can take to bed (especially if you're not going to bed). I have hard time deciding what is my favorite song. Somebody, I'd Give Anything, Love Street, Have Mercy hit home pretty hard. I know almost every song from start to finish on this cd. I lost and damaged 2 cd's. Then bought a third. I think I'll buy a forth and put it up, just in case. Gerald Levert is definitely Da' Man !!! I feel that his Older and Most recent released cd's are great also. But, for some reason, this one connected with me. It also connects with anyone I play it 4. See for yourself. It is something that takes you away. "How many times", is the ultimate "Good-Guy" song. The "Shoulder-to-Cry-on-Guy" song. I Love This CD... This is how I honestly feel...jc

this is without a doubt the best gerald levert album ever. stepping out of the shadow of his father eddie levert of the ojays, gerald comes through with a cd that is totally mind blowing. gerald is musical genious who could teach some of todays r&b singers how to do it.

Another great R&B artist,

A good R&B music has great vocal, lyric and beat. Gerald Levert delivers them all in one great package called Groove On. It has a mix of love songs and upbeat tempo. Some albums tend to go one direction(e.g. love songs for the entire album). Gerald's mix and match approach is excellent. My favorites are (incidentally the first song and the last song of the album) Groove On and Love Street.

I sleep with Gerald's "Groove On" since I've heard it. It really hit me pretty good. To Gerald, keep it up, you're the man! Sure like your pieces. I agree with Inamill@Wans.Net fr: San Antonio, TX. It's a 1994 released album but it'good, check it out. My faves are: Groove On, Let the Juices Flow, Rock Me All Night Long, Answering Service, I'd Give Anything, Someone, all of 'em. ambergel@hotmail.com

The late great Gerald Levert's best solo project.,
By
This review is from: Groove on (Audio CD)
The late great Gerald Levert was undoubtedly one of contemporary R&B's best male vocalists. This 1994 release was (for my taste) his most enjoyable solo CD. The David Foster-produced, Adult Contemporary-influenced Soul ballad "I'd Give Anything" was this CD's big hit but it (sadly) failed to cross over onto the Pop charts. Nonetheless, this CD is chock-full of romantic Urban Soul ballads that should appeal equally to both fans of 1970s and '80s R&B as well as contemporary music fans. Like the late and equally missed Luther Vandross, Lou Rawls, Isaac Hayes and Barry White, Gerald Levert was a balladeer par excellence and his music will be cherished forever.

Gerald Lavert is definely an offsping of Eddie Lavert. The cut "I Can't Help Myself " is for those who need a private moment.
