5.0 out of 5 stars FANTABULOUS! A MUST READ FOR ANY NASCAR FAN OR ROMANCE LOVER!, February 13, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Back IN THE GROOVE for a sequel to her DANGEROUS CURVES, Pamela Britton weaves a tale of romance set in the face paced world of NASCAR.

Former Kindergarten teacher, Sarah Tingle, gets the ride of her life literally when she agrees to work for NASCAR driver, Lance Cooper. What she doesn't plan on, is falling in love with her boss, a very own larger than life celebrity in his own world-a world that Sarah feels very much out of place. But Ms. Britton proves once again, that love can indeed conquer all, to overcome the odds and that our hero and heroine can indeed live happily ever after.

IN THE GROOVE is a story that you won't want to put down, it will keep you up late into the wee hours of the night, turning pages to find out if Sarah does indeed get her man, and how she does it.

Once again, Pamela Britton's description of the NASCAR world is superb, it is so amazing, in fact, that you feel right there like a part of the Sanders Racing team. Her characters are real and down to earth, making you fall in love with them instantly. Also true to her style, is the underlying wit and laugh out loud humor that Ms. Britton is so famous for. Don't miss out on this one, or you will be sorry!

5.0 out of 5 stars LOVED THIS BOOK!!!!, July 18, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I took ITG down with me on the loooong drive to the Daytona 500 this past Feb and it was the best thing I could have done! It got me psyched for the race, it made me laugh, made me cry...UNREAL!
The character of Sarah is so loveable as the every-girl you could totally see yourself in her. The driver Lance just oooozes the kind of swaggering sexuality that you would imagine your favorite driver to have. Pamela makes it EASY for you to tack the face of your Jeff Gordons, Carl Edwards or Kevin Harvicks out there onto Lance Cooper and that was more than enough for me!
The story was so hot that I must admit, at parts I found myself reading so fast I had to go back over it all and soak it in! LOL. Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed by this book in the least!!! I cant WAIT for Pam's next book "On the Edge" to come out!! Thanks Pam for writing these deliciously wonderful books that tantalize the need for NASCAR and some goood lovin!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, Fast, Romantic, April 29, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sarah was heading to her new job when her car broke down. She ends up walking to her employer's home instead. Standing in the driveway she turns suddenly and sees a car heading straight for her.

Lance is shocked. He has just hit a woman in his driveway. Thinking she is another crazed fan he gets out prepared to call 911 before he gets sued. Sarah insists that she is alright but Lance drives her up to his house to make sure. Sarah ends up hysterically telling Lance all of her troubles because at this point everything is going wrong and she needs to vent. Lance tells Sarah that he is the pool boy but he really is Lance Cooper, the NASCAR driver that she is hopefully going to be working for.

Not long after Lance has a doctor check out her minor injuries, his manager shows up and Sarah finds out that Lance is really her boss. She tries to be angry with him for his lies, but it doesn't last long and with some convincing she stays on to do her job as Lances bus driver.

Sarah spends the night at Lance's and the next morning she gets to see the enormous and extravagant bus she will be driving. During the tour Lance kisses Sarah and she eagerly kisses him back. Lance knows this is wrong, Sarah is his employee, and Sarah knows she needs to avoid Lance because he is her boss. She doesn't trust men after the mess her ex-boyfriend made of her life.
After Sarah leaves to drive the bus down to Daytona, Lance decides to take and early flight down just to be with her, which basically defeats the purpose of her driving the bus down ahead of time but he really wants to see her again. Sarah didn't realize how much she wanted to see Lance again until he walked through the bus door.

Sarah and Lance both realize the attraction is mutual but Lance needs to focus solely on his driving and Sarah doesn't think she can compete with Lance's lifestyle. Specifically, the gorgeous women who throw themselves at him constantly. So when Lance attempts to start a relationship, Sarah denies him. But some things can only be put off and before long Lance and Sarah are involved.

Although she wants to be with Lance, the demands on his time and the effects of his fame take their toll and Sarah doesn't think she can make it work. Lance loves Sarah but he knows that she has to want it too. She has to put her past behind her before she can really commit to him. If she can do it, Lance intends to be waiting for her with open arms.

In The Groove is a blast! It's funny, sexy and romantic. My daddy has always been a huge NASCAR fan so all of the quips and explanations about sponsors, teams and fans had me smiling in remembrance. Lance is sexy and handsome and he's a really sweet guy too. Sarah is the kind of girl you want to see happy. She is such a nice person and her kindness and positive attitude are infectious. In The Groove is a story that I just raced through. It's so entertaining I couldn't put it down. I finished the last page with a satisfied sigh. Read In The Groove. It will take you on a fast, fun and romantic ride!

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent book--Fast paced., March 6, 2006

This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
In The Grove by Pamela Britton drives your heart and soul into the winner's circle.

Sarah Tingle's life has gone to hell in a hand basket. An ex boyfriend spreads risqué pictures of her causing her to lose the teaching job she loved. Now her car breaks down on her way to her new job as a driver for a Nascar star. Next thing she knows she is hit by a car driven by her new boss.

Lance Cooper stellar Nascar driver is smitten by his new driver. She has no clue who or what he is and it's refreshing. Lance's racing career needs his full attention right now but Sarah in on his mind on and off the track.

Lance and Sarah start a relationship but will Sarah be able to let go of the past and let Lance love her.

In The Grove delves into their relationship with insight and deep feelings. You really feel and understand the in and outs of Nascar after reading this book. I actually watched my first race the weekend I read this book and enjoyed both. This book is a joy from beginning to end. I hope there are more racing books by this author to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars IN THE GROOVE takes you on a wonderful ride and doesn't let go!!!, January 31, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
Sarah Tingle is a kindergarten teacher until a set of circumstances leaves her down and out. She doesn't know anything about the lifestyle of a NASCAR Cup racer, but she's about to find out when she's literally run over by one of them, Lance Cooper. From there, the story sucked me in and led me on a ride I didn't want to stop. There just can't be a better book that captures the nuances of the NASCAR lifestyle, combined with a compelling romance, than IN THE GROOVE, by Pamela Britton. I had the honor of reading an ARC of this book and was amazed by the realistic imagery Pam gives of the difficult racing sport, shared with an equally wonderful romance between two brilliantly written characters. This book touched my heart it made me laugh, cry, and finally let out a satisfied sigh when I finished it. Pam's characters are rich in personality and determination, they won't let you go until you turn page after page to see what happens next. Simply put... I ABSOLULTEY LOVED THIS BOOK. Please, please don't miss this book, you won't be sorry.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fast, fun squeeky clean romantic read, July 12, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
The romance story is great, and it will take you on a fun adventure through the NASCAR world. I just loved our hero and herione. Lance was just a great guy. Sexy, kind, down to earth. He is tired of the groupie fans who throw themself at him, and wants someone who isn't caught up in his fame and fortune. Sarah is wonderful too, and I just love it when the heroine is likable and not complaining all the time. She has no idea who Lance is, but finds herself working for him. The chemestry between them is great and real, but I'll tell you this is a squeeky clean romance novel. There are NO sex scenes in this book. It completely skips over all the physical romance. Even the language is vague and tame. No dirty or highly suggestive words. There is a hot kiss or two, but that is it. I only mention it because I know I like my romance novels steamy, but besides that I still found this book great.

4.0 out of 5 stars A fast, fun read!, July 3, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)

As a NASCAR fan, I was fascinated with having an almost eyewitness account of the many intricacies and complexities of this sport, which were so brilliantly woven into this story. Pit strategies, spotter's comments, pre-race rituals, relationships between the drivers and their supporting teams (especially their car owners and their sponsors), their family's lifestyle, and so much more came alive right off the pages!!! It definitely provides a deeper appreciation and understanding beyond what is seen on TV or while attending a race at the track! I read this book in one sitting on a Sunday morning, and my favorite driver went on to win the race that afternoon, so it brought good luck too! lol

Although only a secondary aspect of the book for me, the romance was very cute. I have a soft spot for stories about plain, intelligent "normal" girls capturing the heart of a guy who is sought after by gorgeous eye-candy type women. Adding further appeal is that the celebrity is a truly nice guy, and the woman loves him for himself and not for his high-profile status.

4.0 out of 5 stars Groovy Baby, February 24, 2006
This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
I was sorta skeptical about buying this book. I love NASCAR but I didn't want to read a book that had a racing theme that wasn't realistic. This author knows her nascar. The characters were believable and funny. I love humor in a romance.
I have not read the first book yet but plan to buy since I enjoyed this one.

I don't read a lot of contemporary romances, but as a big NASCAR fan, I was curious about this first NASCAR-licensed romance. I'm pleased to say I wasn't disappointed! It was a very engaging read with extremely well-drawn, likable characters. Clearly Ms. Britton knows her racing, and she did an excellent job weaving the two elements--NASCAR and romance--together into a really fun story with characters you will care about and root for. A 5-star read for me, and I'm eagerly anticipating Ms. Britton's next NASCAR book in September!

4.0 out of 5 stars Fun, fast romantic read--, June 12, 2006

This review is from: In The Groove (Hqn Romance) (Mass Market Paperback)
In The Groove was a fun, light read--especially if you're a Nascar fan. When I saw the book at a bookstore, I right away thought 'cheesy'. But I bought it anyway and I'm glad I did because it wasn't cheesy and I enjoyed the humor in which it was written. The dialogue was good. The wit. Lance and Sarah were a rather cute couple and I especially enjoyed reading how they met. A bit corny at times, but all in all, a good read.
