5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful Date Music, February 8, 2005
This review is from: Groovetree (Audio CD)
Groovetree is extremely polished, yet casual -- making it so nice to listen to. I especially like the variety that ranges from instrumental to vocal and the use of different instruments with the horns. And Lullaby for Renarta is a wonderful soft tune that I find very beautiful.

5.0 out of 5 stars Run, Don't Walk to pick this up!, May 4, 2005

This review is from: Groovetree (Audio CD)
I realize this is early, but Lin Rountree's effort is clearly the early favorite to pick up debut album honors.

He wrote or co-wrote every song on the album and the result is an early projection of a long, successful career. Think to when you first discovered the likes of Chris Botti or Rick Braun and wanted to run out to get the recordings you may have missed.

Lin Rountree plays like a seasoned pro. Once you put this in your CD player, your eyebrows will raise as to how come you haven't heard of this guy before now!

Rountree lives in Detroit where there is a wealth of jazz talent starting to surface. The likes of Dave McMurray, Tim Bowman (who appears on the album) and the smooth-jazzy sounds of Kem also call Detroit home.

Groovetree will become one of your favorite CDs. The songs For Your Love, Everyday, Into the Night and Candie measure up to anything the likes of Botti and Braun have done.

5.0 out of 5 stars Something to listen to over and over again, September 5, 2008
This review is from: Groovetree (Audio CD)
This is one of those CD's where every track is good so you don't have to skip any of the songs. You can listen to the entire CD over and over again. I know I am not alone because I was in a fancy restaurant the other day and they were playing this CD over and over again from start to finish.

5.0 out of 5 stars smooth jazzy horn, July 16, 2005
This review is from: Groovetree (Audio CD)
This is his debut and he should already be considered one of the most talented horn players of date. This guy plays so smooth and with such confidence. He effortlessly lays down a groove that just captivates you. He is smooth jazzy and funky all rolled up into one classy sound. Botti and Braun has nothing over this guy. Everytime I listen to this cd I just say where did this guy come from and why did it take him so long to get here. You just got to check this cd out. Fantastic piece of music. A must have for you smooth jazz collection. Keep up the groove.
