It doesn't matter what his age or special gifts may be; this CD and all of Mr. Savage's discs can be described in three easy words: Re Ipsa Loquitor [The Thing Speaks For Itself]. The special timber of Matt's voice gives his recordings away as being even more special that one might expect, but when I clipped the intro's out [for fun] and played it for a group of friends they only wanted to know one thing, "Who in the world is this and why haven't you shared, you pig?".

When I told them it was a nine year old boy from the Eastern Seaboard and it wasn't his first disc, I was 1) called a liar and 2) told to play it again... they are now converts and I am so very pleased to have made the discovery for our little band of thieves. I found Morphine [the BAND, you degenerates] and followed through with Twinemen after Sandman's tragic demise.

It would be unfair to short change the other two thirds of the trio [especially after reading up on their bios!] - John Funkhouse and Steve Silverstein [bass & drums, respectively] keep a solid backbeat for their wild young piano playing leader; no small task when the young man behind the 88 keys may well be the greatest jazz pianist & composer since T. Monk.

"Keep on Groovin'" as Matt has said and go directly to savagerecords.com for a little savings if you choose... their storefront is clean and well organized, their shipping & customer service is top notch [thanks to Larry ["da' Man"] and if you ask REALLLLLLLLY nice they might even have some of the "out of print" discs if you go now Now NOW !

And finally; "props" as they say to Dianne at Savage Records - she may well be in line for a nomination as Jazz Supermom...

Matt Savage has the potential to be come the next Oscar Peterson. He's young and needs a bit of polish but over all he's an amazing and wonderful addition to Jazzdom.
