A Must for any Growtoski fan,
By François Geoffroy (Montreal, Canada) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Grotowski Sourcebook (Worlds of Performance) (Hardcover)
The Grotowski sourcebook might be a bit expensive, but is surely worth the price. It is the only book I know that covers not only Grotowski's production period (up to the 70'S), but also his post-theatre experiments, which are much more interesting than you could expect. Schechner and Wolford managed to build a real Grotowski bible. Thumbs up!

The most important Grotowski book to own,
By Publius (Chicago, IL) - See all my reviews
This review is from: The Grotowski Sourcebook (Worlds of Performance) (Paperback)
With all due humility, I am someone who really knows quite a lot about Grotowski, and I will agree with the previous reviewer about the value of this book. Honestly, if you could only have one book on Grotowski, it should be this one. It is a more valuable book than the ever-famous "Towards a Poor Theatre." A major part of the reason for that is that it puts some historical rigor and critical perspective on Grotowski's career- something which it is difficult to discover by reading Grotowski's writing alone. Also, the post-theatrical periods are more than just interesting- they are pat that lead to the culmination of Grotowski's work- a path that went far beyond theatre into something which can't really be put into words, but, as Andre Gregory said, "Has something to do with living."
