Book Description

May 29, 1993
Lieutenant Colonel J. M. Moriarty's Marine Observation Squadron II, VMO-Z, was an indispensable part of the Marine Corps's air war in Vietnam. For the pilots and observers of VMO-2 were the crucial link in the Marine air/ground team, providing fire support and intelligence for the reconnaissance and infantry units on the ground in their never-ending battle of survival, evasion, and escape in the deadly jungles of Vietnam.

During his tours in Vietnam, Moriarty saw many incidents that never made the history books. And on their missions flying in Southeast Asia, Moriarty and his crews often made the difference between life and death for recon teams and grunts in contact with the NVA below. The sacrifice and heroism Moriarty saw deserve a place in our nation's history that should never be forgotten.

5.0 out of 5 stars If you know Eugene Lacy Wheeler (MIA) you'll need this!, February 10, 2000
This review is from: Ground Attack -- Vietnam (Mass Market Paperback)
This book is excellent! I got it because it has a chapter on my adopted POW, Eugene, and ended up reading the whole book. Those who know of Gene, must get this book. On pages 133-64, it has radio contact with Eugene and AO Chuck Hatch. This book is also very well detailed and is a must read. I'm proud to have it in my book collection.

5.0 out of 5 stars My grandfathers book, February 26, 2005
This review is from: Ground Attack -- Vietnam (Mass Market Paperback)
My grandfather wrote this book! I was pleased to see that everyone who read it enjoyed it. Before he passed we would take walks and he would tell me and my sister stories of when he was in vietnam. I am very glad I had the chance to hear the stories from him, and I am glad they were passed on to anyone who reads them!

4.0 out of 5 stars Vietnam- From the man who saw the best in everyhting., January 6, 2000
This review is from: Ground Attack -- Vietnam (Mass Market Paperback)
Ground Attack Vietnam is a book about the lighter side of Vietnam life. It tells the stories and experiences of a Marine trying to make the best of their time away from home. I had the opportunity to meet the author of this book a few years back, and he told me some of the stories that were in the book. Right after that I went and bought the book. I am pleased to say, each story was even more entertaining than the last. I highly recommend this to enyone who is interested in hearing both sides of Vietnam.
