This album is an awesome blend of metal and hardcore, while those two styles have been combined before, Himsa has put a twist on it that makes the music all their own. I(and my band mates in Adjourn)had the privilage to play a few shows with these guy's and By a Thread, I socilized with them a little bit, but I didn't get to know them that well, but their roadies are all badasses so buy this album. You won't regret it.

Hailing from Seattle, these little bastards bombard you with a wealth of straight in your face riffs... verging on the metal but staying inside the hardcore punk sound, whatever that means. It's hard, and the singer just rips his vocal chords out and puts them on display for all to see.

I'm really into Himsa's later stuff, but I decided in order to be a real fan I should try their older stuff. When I bought this CD I wasn't really expecting much since I heard their newer stuff was way better. But I was pleasantly surprised! Granted, this album sounds a lot different than Courting Tragedy, but that's to be expected without Johnny Pettibone. But even though it's different, it's a very good change. I really recommend this album to anyone who likes good old fashioned hXc.
