The unit arrived unsealed, wet, and with greasy fingerprints all over it. The instructions included were inadequate and generic for several models but did not address this product. It does not tell you, for example, that you need to use a specific kind of fluid or the machine will not produce the "ground fog" but just a regular fog. Nor did it mention what the front compartment was for, which you had to guess was where you place ice cubes.

The instructions do not tell you that the unit cannot be tilted or that it must be placed on a stand with the tube on the back hanging into a catcher container or water will end up all over the floor.

The compartment for ice as well as the rest of the unit is made of untreated metal that will rust over time. When I e-mailed the manufacturer/distributor to mention the issues, they were nice enough to send a new one, but the replacement unit was in the same condition. After much time spent on experimentation, the unit did finally do what it was supposed to, but the quality-control just isn't there, so I am sending it back.

This is more work than you possibly need on a night filled with lots of stuff to do. Do you honestly think you are going to get movie-grade, low lying fog, being OUTSIDE! Here is the premise, that you insert some ice into the unit and then the evaporation process helps to make the special machine work so amazingly different than a $30 machine. WRONG!

I have 6 fog machines and this is more work than the other 5 combined. Constantly have to maintain levels, make sure draining cord is aimed downhill or it simply defeats the purpose, constantly refilling ice (the machine gets very hot regardless of outside temp, so your ice cubes will melt within 20-40 minutes tops). It is just a total waste of money. It works, but no better than Target's $20 machines.

At the end of the day, Fog Machines all do the same thing, some slightly better than others. Being outside, LOW LYING does not work because it is entirely dependent on the wind.

Here is my tip from 20 years of decorating BIG for halloween. Place your fog machine in or around shrubbery. Don't worry, you won't burn the place down. The shrubbery keep the fog down and it "masses" about chest high. Again, any fog machine can be a low lying fog machine if you know what you are doing.

Want to look like the movies or a rock star? Dry Ice fog machines on set each cost about $800-$2000. This is not one of those. This is 2 fog machines you could have bought besides spending the dough.

I did like this product, where you would put your ice in the machine it was kinda small. And with the heat of the fogger it melted very fast. Did it stay low to the ground?? not really. The ice melted to fast to keep the fog low. But for a 400 watts, it did kick so good fog out!!! Would I recommend this product? Yes, for a small machine it does well!! But if you really want low lying fog you would have to build a better ice area.
