Book Description

The year is twenty sixty, and the sun dawns upon a new age. It has been forty five years since Tierikium formed in the Pacific, along with its sister islands, and ten years since man has gone into hiding. The Rebirtha rule the lands now and have enslaved those who failed to escape. Things have seemed calm in the mountains, where man hides within his final strongholds, but there is something new over the horizon.
Levi has awakened in a world he does not remember. His past is forgotten and all he knows is his name. People distrust him, saying that he is a spy, and he has little reason to believe otherwise. Levi doesn’t know what his future holds for him, but he has information that could decide man’s ultimate end. But is he for mankind or against it?
Mathew finds himself trapped in the small town of Ambern, one of man’s strongest fortresses. Abandoned by his father at the age of fifteen, Mathew has nothing left but the safety the town provides for him. He is grown up now, but a new monster lurks the forest around Ambern. Mathew must decide whether he should stay and defend his town from this new threat, or follow his dreams for adventure and leave.
Isaac Kierken is a bioengineered super-soldier and a former agent for the international powers before the Rebirtha attack. He has spent his life fighting the Rebirtha, but now finds himself joining their ranks. In order to prove his newfound loyalty to them however, he must go on a mission to steal something from the humans. Nonetheless, what at first appears to be a simple retrieval mission, leads him to the brink of a new war. A war that will be fought between the Rebirtha and something even more terrifying, and he is the one to decide its declaration.

4.0 out of 5 stars A Great First Book May 1, 2013
Format:Paperback|Verified Purchase
For a first time author, I found this book to be very enjoyable. The characters were well thought out and the plot line was far from simple. I admit that I did have some trouble jumping between the different character's viewpoints, mainly when I would put the story down for a day or two and then pick it back up.
Is this a polished work? No, and that would have garnered only 3 stars except for the fact that for a teenager, this was extremely well done. At this rate, he may one day surpass his mother (author Sherri Lackey - Winds of the Molornu, The Vrykolakas Deviation)

5.0 out of 5 stars Readable April 20, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This is a great book and I'm not even done with it yet!! I have to say my favorite part about this book is that it is split up between characters. They are all connected because they live in a single world, yet they have no clue the other one exists. Plus these characters are so diverse, each with there own problems, thoughts, and background stories. The island sounds beautiful and terrifying (I like mountains...)
P.A. Lackey keeps you guessing- What is an Oam? What are the vibrations Levi feels? What is all this stuff the leader guy who captured Isaac talking about ruling the Rebirtha? What is the old guy's motive, the one in the swamp with Matthew? What is happening to the rest of the people on the planet? Of course to answer all these questions you have to read the book...Enjoy! I can't wait for the sequels P.A. Lackey!

3.0 out of 5 stars Interesting, but drawn out October 13, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is about the end of the world as we know it, with an invasion from aliens along with a conspiracy involving beings not human. I was drawn into the beginning of the book but as more characters were introduced the story got more muddy with nothing being resolved. Trying to figure out the truth of what is going on gave me a headache and left me confused. Nothing is really resolved in this book. After much thought, I realized that while the story keeps moving and things are happening the characters keep doing, saying, and thinking the same thing! Also, more 'the plot thickens' moments kept occurring just adding to the confusion. I will say the there is a great story base here and the characters are very likable. If everything comes together and makes sense at the end of the series then it will be a great series.

(Disclosure: I received a free copy of the book to review, however complimentary copies do not guarantee that I will review the book, and do not sway my opinion on the story.)

3.0 out of 5 stars Ground of Oam June 23, 2013
Format:Kindle Edition
In this book, there are 3 viewpoints (well, actually more like 5 but only three main ones). So it took me a while to get used to that and remember who was with which group of characters. Also, there were parts where the description was so ongoing that I would find my mind start to wander a bit (this was probably my biggest problem with the book). But then I'd eventually get pulled back in. It could also use some fine tuning editorial wise. I noticed more mistakes after halfway through the book.

All in all, this was interesting. I didn't love it, but didn't hate it either. Would I recommend? Eh...I would say it wouldn't hurt to try it if one likes fantasy or dystopian type novels. Will I read the next one? Eh...maybe, maybe not.

I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

More About the Author

P. A. Lackey, or Andrew as most call him, grew up in a family of five along with his twin brother James Lackey. At an early age he and his brother developed a story which would stick with them throughout the years to come despite the many deterrents along the way. At the age of sixteen he and his brother finally decided to write out their Oam's Cry story, and now hope to continue their writings for many to enjoy. Based upon their childhood adventures, Oam's cry seeks to explore the vast world they created as children growing up. P. A. Lackey is currently pursuing a degree in communications, and wishes to pursue further studies in Christian theology as he has come to know Jesus Christ as central in all areas of life. Besides writing fiction, he enjoys camping and hiking during the summer, and much more reading during the Montana winters.
James Lackey's first novel is expected to publish in the coming fall of 2013.
