Level One readers learn about Groundhog Day, the importance of Phil's shadow and his prediction in this slim volume. The storyline is basic and includes all the pertinent facts. The illustrations are vivid; though Phil looks like a cat, a dog, or some other creature more often than he resembles a groundhog. Still, this is a good holiday introduction for the youngest readers.
