5.0 out of 5 stars Unadulterated Fun., November 10, 2001
By A Customer
This review is from: Group Dance Epidemic (Audio CD)
This CD is unadulterated FUN. The band is tight. The recording is good. I love what they do with the music, styles and lyrics. My all time favorite, though, is the Bunny Hop. It's great swing. I can't listen to this selection only once. I always repeat it. TWO versions of the Hokey Pokey - who could ask for more?! The Limbo Rock / Hand Jive is great. I always sing along with Mana Vu. (Jeffrey is nuts (in a good and creative way).) That's my humble and entertained opinion.

I was walking through a record store one fine day and when this album was just out and froze in my tracks. I turned to the store owner and said "excuse me, are they playing the Hokey Pokey?"

The store owner said "Yep. Thats Brave Combo!"

I immediately said "I'd be stupid not to buy this!"

What I got was an album full of classic group dance songs. From the Hokey Pokey to the Chicken Dance to the Hustle. All done in a wonderfully tounge-in-cheek fashion. Its alot of fun!

4.0 out of 5 stars You have to appreciate Brave Combo to enjoy this disc, October 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Group Dance Epidemic (Audio CD)
Brave Combo approaches their music with a distinctive tongue-in-cheek humor that is easily shared if you're of the mind to go with it. The group is very tight and adept at handling diverse songs such as The Hustle and Mexican Hat Dance. The rock and roll version of the Hokey Pokey on this CD is dangerously contageous - you may find yourself humming it throughout the day. The CD includes instructions for each dance. What could be more fun than following the instructions for the Chicken Dance? You'll also find new steps for the Jeapordy theme song. All-in-all, this isn't a CD for the unadventurous. For those with an appreciation of this band and their musical approach, though, this is a star addition to your collection of Brave Combo tunes.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lunatic Fun, June 19, 2003
This review is from: Group Dance Epidemic (Audio CD)
If you want a band that stays in one style and groove, forget it! A person could get stylistic whiplash off of this CD. The jump from Mana Vu to The Jeffrey comes to mind. The thing is though it is all played with real joy and passion, something most recordings are devoid of these days. The American Bandstand ratings system of is it cool and can you dance to it comes up with max marks for both. For those clueless, there's even instructions for how to dance to it.

You haven't LIVED until you've danced to Brave Combo! More specifically, to BC's rockin' version of the Hokey Pokey! This album has many of the classic dance tunes you'll hear at a BC show, although for full effect, you simply MUST see them live. I do so on a regular basis for my mental health!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great for the younger set!!!, February 1, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Group Dance Epidemic (Audio CD)
What the previous reviewers failed to note is the obvious youth appeal of this CD. Remember in elementary school when you learned the Hokey Pokey by listening to some tired old '50's version of the song? I say, NO MORE!!! I've tried this CD on several memebers of the younger set (ages 5 - 10) And they *love* it!!! This CD should be in every household with children! Trust me on this. :-)

4.0 out of 5 stars Good enough to give to your best friends!, December 20, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Group Dance Epidemic (Audio CD)
I own a copy already, and my friends from Colorado really fell in love with it, especially the Hokey-Pokey. So, I'm ordering a copy for them. A classic party album for all ages, my 6-year old really likes the Bunny Hop, while I like them all. Even the Hustle.

4.0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect, October 24, 2003
This review is from: Group Dance Epidemic (Audio CD)
My kids, 3 and 5, developed a sudden fascination with the "Chicken Dance." I looked around for a good recording, and when I saw the Brave Combo version grabbed it (they think "All Wound Up" rules)

We've been generally happy with one small nit. In their search for artistic differentiation the band has thrown in quite a few twists that, while they sound interesting, make it a bit hard to dance to. That's not cool for an album titled "Group Dance Epidemic."

Still, it's a great kid's album and highly recommended.
