Group Theoretical Methods and Their Applications,
By peter thomas (University of Chicago Mathematics Department) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Group Theoretical Methods and their Applications (Hardcover)
I found Fassler and Stiefel indispensable in the study of dynamical systems that undergo bifurcations in the presence of symmetry. They make the types of potential applications plain to the mathematician and make the group theory quite readable to the physicist. In addition they describe algorithms for generating symmetry-adapted basis functions in enough detail to allow one to implement them in practice.
