This review is from: The Grove Book of Art Writing: Brilliant Words on Art from Pliny the Elder to Damien Hirst (Paperback)
Gayford and Wright have gathered together some seminal statements on Art made over the centuries.
Covering artists, their patrons, media and techniques, the book is a very useful insight into interpretations of Art in all of its forms. It becomes heavy reading because the text is unrelieved by any illustrations, which seems a pity when the text is directly concerned with visual elements. |
