5.0 out of 5 stars Michael W. Smith lasts 20 years and Grover Levy lasts 2?
Not that I have anything against Smitty, but where did this Grover Levy disappear to? "There's a life" and "If You Want to Lead Me to Jesus" are two of the best Christian pop songs I have ever heard, and the former is one of my favorite songs period. Solid throughout with several gems on each album, Grover Levy's two albums are a must. Every Christian...

it sucks, because the lyrics of the song, and the music arent good, and now his music is depressing like his life because hayley riebling is leaving for college

Yes, indeed it does, but you can bring yourself up to par by buying this album and "Wrestling Angels" too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Grover Deserves Attention, January 19, 2000

I bought this cd when I was 14, and I loved it. Years later, I still love it. Grover Levy is a talented man with an original voice, both musically and as a songwriter. His style is pop, but the cd it is not slow or easy. The songs carry great messages. He deserves more praise than he got for his work! Also check out his second cd from '97, Wrestling Angels.

What was I doing in a Christian bookstore? Looking for Grover Levy's CD, the one with There Is A Life -- I'd seen the video on a Xian channel and couldn't get the song out of my head, in the best sense of the term. Just a perfect little pop song.

He has a good voice to begin with, and he shines on ballads that showcase it. Then studio pros let him sing harmony with himself, the result reminiscent of the Everly Brothers. It worked well with the sunny-sounding rock 'n roll music on this CD (less so on the followup CD, Wrestling Angels, which had some stabs at grunge-lite).

In addition to the music CD, there's a kind of electronic press kit disc with clips of Grover and producer Jeff Borders talking about their faith and their music. It also includes the video for "There Is A Life", small and dark but that was the state of multimedia in 1996.

Looks like the record company put a lot of effort into this one, perhaps hoping for some Amy Grant-style crossover into the secular charts. It's a shame it didn't. But who can figure out what will sell? Grover himself sums up the feel of this disc after the last note of the last song fades out: "It's a vibe, man, it's not a science."

5.0 out of 5 stars Grover Levy is deffinetely worth a listen, January 7, 2012
This review is from: Grover Levy (Audio CD)
After misplacing this CD years ago, I purchased a new copy from my local Christian Music Store. I had forgotten the name of it and so by a limited description the music department was able to come up with a name. I said that's it!!! And then purchased a new copy from the music kiosk. I have to say that this CD could have been put out today. It's still current and relevant. The man has a God Given talent! The songs are all inspiring. Not a bad one on the disc! Even my kids love it. My 3 year old has such a sensative heart that he gets it! He loves to jam out with Grover Levy!
Grover if you ever read this I hope you know how many people miss you and want to hear from you again!!

I bought Grover's album over 10 years ago and still play it often. There isn't a weak song on this CD. It's amazing because Grover doesn't play an instrument. He sings his song creations to musician friends who then arrange them for him. I'm not sure why he quit recording -- but I hope it isn't forever. The guy has talent. "Someday" is filled with hope for a better day with the awareness of God's presence and a catchy pop melody to go with it. "When we fail to Love" points out the sad fact that life is too short to hold on to hurts and resentments too long. "Giants in the Land" is an energetic rocking blues tune that reminds us that God doesn't lead us out into the wilderness just to leave us there. It's a faith encouraging tune with a beat reminiscent of "Radar Love." And "There is a Life" is a beautiful expression of the Holy Spirit's presence in everyday life. Grover may be a humble high school basketball coach these days, but God gave him a gift that I seriously hope he finds a way to use. He's already made a difference in my life.
