** ** Update ** **
It has been awhile, but I finally remembered to ask about how this grew. Unfortunately, I discovered that while the recipient was very excited to receive this, the product did not grow very well (re: the product left a four-year-old disappointed). :(
I was told that the grass appeared in somewhat of a 'horseshoe' pattern, leaving an empty spot in the middle. My friends couldn't decide whether the grass just wasn't strong enough to push up through the fabric in the middle, or if the seeds were a bust from the get-go.
I had high hopes for this product, but it wasn't great in the end. I've changed my rating.
** ** ** ** **

While I admit, I bought this for a present and haven't checked back with how the item is being grown, I love the whole concept! Friends of mine have a four-year-old who loves science and the outdoors. I saw this and felt it would be perfect for him (and more cute/age-appropriate than a Chia Pet).
I'll update with any comments or concerns regarding the actual sprouting of grass, but in the meantime, love this. :)
