Birthdays always inspire me to try to grow younger!,
By Neal C. Reynolds (Indianapolis, Indiana) - See all my reviews (VINE VOICE) (TOP 1000 REVIEWER) (REAL NAME)

Well, I don't believe any guarantees come with this CD. Be that as it may, this is a good CD to listen to when completely relaxed and even to sleep to since I'm sure the words will still be speaking to your subconscious. While Dave Stewart provides the music, I don't much imagine that it will impress Eurythmics fans. This is more for new age fans, new age in both music and philosophy. Deepak Chopra is mistrusted by some who see him strictly as a pop guru. I see him more as a dedicated teacher to those who will listen. This combination of words and music can be like seeds scattered over the soil. If you see to it that your mind is like fertile soil, you can be enriched through repeated listening to this. On the other hand, if your mind is resistant, this cd would be useless to you. It's up to you.

Pretty disappointing, all in all,

After the wonderful CD "Gift of Love" with Deepak Chopra and friends, I was looking forward to hearing this colaboration with Dave Stewart, of the Eurythmics. Overall the CD feels as if the two artists were never in the recording studio together, maybe not even in the same town. The music and the spoken word just don't seem to match very well. On one cut, the poetry reading by Deepak Chopra is nothing more than a recording of a telephone call!!! Unfortunately, that poem is the best one on the CD, and it is hard to make out the words. It almost feels as if the spoken word was an afterthought to the music. If you listen to the music on its own, it is not bad at all, but together they just don't work very well. The music is very rockin electronic, and loud. The voice is, well, Depak Chopra, which is neither rockin nor loud......

Nice chill out record,

I really enjoyed this record, it has a lazy, chilled out feel to the music and sounded far more contempory than I'd expected, mixing samples, beats and poetry. Some of the poetry is very beautiful although it's weaved in with the music with some lines repeating so you don't always get an impression of the poem as a whole, I think the CD would act as a great companion to the book of the poems, but it also works as nice chill out record in it's own right.

I'm not a dedicated follower of Deepak, although I remember him showing up on Oprah from time to time years ago. This CD came to my attention and I decided to buy it. I'm really glad I did. I can't really describe the music, but it is very interesting and unique. I listen to it while driving and it keeps me calm and balanced on bumpy and crowded New Jersey streets. If you can handle and appreciate new-agey music, then you should check this out.

Sound and Spirit,

Perhaps not for your typical audiophile, Dave Stewart's collaboration with Deepak Chopra creating the CD Grow Yonger, Live Longer is a moving message to the soul. Tangore', Rumi and various other Persian poets are eloquantly overlayed through syncronic mixes of luscious and hypnotic sound. This CD is great for trance dance, NIA, open meditation and general reflection.

Deepak and Dave.......Grow Younger, Live Longer,
By Linda Hartley (Arizona, United States) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Grow Younger, Live Longer (Audio CD)
Deepak and Dave rock the house....that God built! Deepak ...."existence was born when we fell in love with emptiness...with a single note the Nightengale makes me notice the rose....falling into that place ...where everything is music." Move harder...move harder...."we are all great rivers flowing to their end" ....the Dance of Life moved through me, like the wind I fly like an eagle, I become a wave in the ocean...the Dance of Life is exuberent, carrying me, caressing me... moved to experience the Oneness of our existence. Moved to pray, to bow, to belly dance, to swirl...passionately I embrace my being. Seagulls calling us reverently to return to the sea...ocean waves crashing on the shores of our perception...seagulls calling to us. Love struck....the music rocks my soul. "Where children meet on the seashore of endless worlds ...the children play"... my favorite. Reggae....jump around!!! Readjust your biostat! Drums beat..."the sky groans...no sleep tonite." Deepak recites beautifully, Indian music plays, I hear drums....I feel India. "Come to me my love"...in the stillness I feel the music move me. The Land of Bliss...guitar strings, bass, chimes, strings,drums...Deepak.."My heart beats in waves on the shore of the world and writes it's name in tears with these words...I Love You." Softly, gently I sway to the music. I belly dance I see pagodas I merge with the ocean of life...existence.The music is soft...heart....writes it's name with these words...I Love You" Introspective, insightful, attentive, awareness ends with a cresendo and a marching band as the parade goes by...soft but strong...gentle but loud. Music changes, bluesy and rhythmic, Eurythmic. The music is atmospheric...the dance of the cosmos...be still...the music is loud. The age of new music ...Deepak recites Tagore from memory..."You send me love letters in the moon, the night said to the sun and I send you my answer as tears upon the grass"...falling in love with God. Who Is This? Jazzy entrance with horns..."it's my own little self my Lord he knows no shame....enter the ego trailing his shadow. My ego saunters with the music and likes it very much. This time of parting...the music is melancholy, searching, reverently searching...soft but strong, carrying us ...making us anew. The music and the words know me as I know them. Grow younger, live longer, move harder, love stronger. Be passionate. Live fully. Body, mind and soul...a fantastic aerobic workout to reset your biostat...grow younger just for the fun of it and let the music rock your soul. |
