Book Description

The Simple Dude is the pen name of a blogger who built his blog www.TheSimpleDude.com to nearly 2,000 followers in the span of eight months. His blog writing is entertaining, humorous and irreverent - and he brings those same qualities to this blogging guide.

Within this e-book you'll find out how he started his blog with very little knowledge of the blogging world. Through trial and error he discovered little used methods for adding targeted readers and followers. These are tips he continues to use to build his following to this day.

You'll also get tips on post formatting, style and content that will keep people coming back to your blog day after day. All the information in this book is brought to you in Simple Dude's typical lighthearted manner that is both informative and entertaining.

1.0 out of 5 stars Useless October 10, 2011
By David
Format:Kindle Edition
This book is absolutely horrible and honestly not even worth the $2. All he does is tell you how HE became a "popular blogger" (spoiler alert: he was featured as a "blog of note" on blogger.com and he's actually not that popular - he only has 2,000 followers). Then he tells you to not do run on sentences and things of that nature for a few pages. Worthless. The book probably took him 1/2 an hour to write and is not worth your money.

1.0 out of 5 stars Definitely not worth your time or money December 20, 2011
By Angela
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Let me just save you some time: if you want to achieve the same level of success, just figure out how to get your blog featured as a "blog of note" on Blogger's list. The author says he has no suggestions as to how to make that crapshoot happen, but that is the primary way he gained readers. There is no info in here that you cannot get for free with a simple Google search.

1.0 out of 5 stars Misleading October 15, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
The description for this e-book crows that he got 2,000 followers in 8 months, but fails to mention this was due to an early mention of his blog on Blogger's Blogs of Note page. Super misleading. Everything else in the e-book is stuff you can find out in an hour of googling "increase blog views"

Good thing it was only $2, or I'd be more irked.

5.0 out of 5 stars Well worth the price and the time. March 16, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I was looking for simple, general, yet concise information on blogging and e-book marketing when I stumbled across this offering. It was just what I was looking for, and gave me advice and solid information in an easy to read and amusing manner. Most importantly, it didn't waste my time and it was enjoyable to read. If you are looking for a self proclaimed "bombshell" book chock full of secrets that are "new and exclusive", go look someplace else. On the other hand if you are new to blogging or you just need a quick common sense poke in the eye, this is a worthwhile, well written, opportunity for you. Happy Blogging! [...]

4.0 out of 5 stars "Simple" To Understand February 22, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I really enjoyed reading this ebook. It was very "simple" to understand and straight to the point about what worked for him. The humorous tone throughout the book kept me glued to my Kindle. Although I could have done without the cuss words, I was able to look beyond that. I gained quite a few nuggets to help me get traffic to my blog. I'm looking forward to the next ebook. Two thumbs up for The Simple Dude!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Great Tips, Excellent Value December 24, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition
Since I am a novice blogger, and somewhat of a technology dinosaur, I really needed someone to help me with the basics of blogging. The Simple Dude does that in an engaging read that takes less than an hour to navigate through and costs less than $3.00. What an amazing deal! I learned so much from this witty guy. Based on his recommendations, I realized that I was doing things backwards in my own blog. I have some serious work to do in order to gain followers. Instead of starting with my facebook friends who are loyal and faithful followers, I learned that I need to research other like-minded comedy driven lifestyle blogs like mine and comment on their blogs to increase traffic flow. Who knew???? I especially like the Simple Dude's smart comments and his bullet points at the end of each chapter. If you are new to the vast and confusing blog world this book is a must read!!!

4.0 out of 5 stars Starting a blog? Read this book! October 27, 2011
By Susan
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Although I have been a blogger for several years, I bought this book after reading The Simple Dude's blog.I found that this very quick read did a great job of outlining the basics of blogging. Just because you write it, that does not ensure people will come.Or stay. Sure, he was listed as a Blog of Note, which initially increased his followers--but he had to KEEP them and add more based on content as well as all the other strategies of a good blogger outlined in this book.

Anyone can start a blog, but it takes the information found in this book to start it towards a success. The Simple Dude's light, humorous writing style helps and encourages beginners, and is a great refresher for those not new to this medium.I have already recommended it to a number of people who told me that they were starting blogs or ready to take them public.

Is it a detailed course in blogging? No. But the things he covers will quickly give bloggers a push to increase followers. I only downgraded the stars to 4 because I would have liked a bit more technical information, and a more clever title- the book is not nearly as dry as it's title suggests. For the price...it's a 5 star!

4.0 out of 5 stars Good, fun read October 26, 2011
By Gydle
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I bought this book because it was cheap and because it was said to have an irreverent, "snarky" tone. Both were true! I very much appreciated the writing style which was engaging and very easy to read. I finished the book in one sitting. I also appreciated the lack of grammatical mistakes - something that's often a problem in the e-book world.

Simple Dude follows the successful formula of telling his story and then telling you how you can apply what he did to your own blog. Of course you can't get chosen for the "Blog of Note" like he did just by chance, but I do think his blog would not have remained popular unless it managed to retain a certain audience. I happen to think 2000 subscribers is significant in 8 months.

He's also authentic in his own writing and blog, as far as I can tell, and doesn't tell you to go and sell your soul just to get page hits like so many advice sites out there do. Basically he says if you want other bloggers to read, comment on and link to your crap, you've got to put out and show an interest in their crap, too. It's a community of sorts, and you have to spend some time finding where you fit in in the blogosphere.

Blogging is weird, I'm not sure I learned a lot that I didn't at some level already know by reading this book, but it was good to have it in one piece, it was fun to read, and it didn't make me feel like a total loser. If you've got a blog and you'd like to get some more readers, it's got the basics covered. If you'll do anything to get page hits, and you're interested in making real money with a blog, there are probably other books out there that will be better guides to selling your soul and working according to formulas.
