4.0 out of 5 stars OK - but too limited in scope., December 10, 2011

This review is from: Growing Chinese Vegetables in Your Own Backyard: A Complete Planting Guide for 40 Vegetables and Herbs, from Bok Choy and Chinese Parsley to Mung Beans and Water Chestnuts (Paperback)
My only problem with this book is that the author chose to discuss some 40 vegetables and left it at that. I wish that she had called it "Growing Asian Vegetables" and fleshed it out somewhat. In addition she could have given a bit more data on plant spacing, etc. Maybe minor complaints, but they cost her a star - wish there were 10 stars available, she is almost at 90 percent. On a last (more positive) note, I really appreciate the time she spent on containers and water gardens. It kept a somewhat average book well up in the 4 star ratings.

My husband is Chinese and we will be growing many of these to sell. As an organic farmer - I can say it really simplifies things so anyone can grow if they're interested in these vegetables.

5.0 out of 5 stars Some 40 vegetables and herbs are covered, May 8, 2009
This review is from: Growing Chinese Vegetables in Your Own Backyard: A Complete Planting Guide for 40 Vegetables and Herbs, from Bok Choy and Chinese Parsley to Mung Beans and Water Chestnuts (Paperback)
Chinese greens, herbs, and other edible plants will delight gardeners seeking new challenges and cooks who want different options from a backyard garden - but there's relatively few books available on the specifics of growing Chinese vegetables in a backyard. Some 40 vegetables and herbs are covered in a survey of varieties, growing and harvest options, and more. Gardeners who cultivate culinary interests will be particularly excited by the options in Growing Chinese Vegetables in Your Own Backyard.
