This book is to be used to assist in learning the Bible (KJV, NIV, NASB, & RSV). Inside is a thirteen-week course that takes you through lessons on assurance and on Christian living. In each lesson you will memorize a Bible verse, study other related passages, and answer simple questions about what you have read. This book also contains verse cards that you can carry with you.

Growing in Christ brings together four separate Navpress works: the five-part Lessons on Assurance, its companion scripture memory pack, the eight-part Lessons on Christian Living, and its companion memory pack.

Lessons on Assurance is probably the most-tested discipleship tool ever published. It has been around in several forms since the 40s, and has been virtually unchanged since the mid-70s. I myself was nurtured by it when I came to the Lord in 1974. It has served as a solid foundation for virtually everything I've learned since. And I've used it to help equip scores of people since then.

Each of the five assurances covered builds on the previous one: Salvation, Prayer, Victory, Confession, Guidance. Together, according to the authors, they help the believer defeat the devil when he attacks.

The lessons are constructed by taking apart a key verse, phrase by phrase, and taking the disciple to other scripture passages for deeper understanding and application.

While Lessons on Christian Living (the second part of this book) is useful, I generally make it more of an elective as I disciple others. Lessons on Assurance, however, is as essential now as it was when I discovered it over 25 years ago.

There is no better resource anywhere for equipping young Christians to live the Christ life.

WARNING, WARNING, WARNING! There are two versions of this book. A 1980 version and a 2007 version. Amazon's website only shows the 2007 version (but shows the image for both). I ordered one book thinking it would be the 2007 version, but it was the 1980 version. Amazon was VERY helpful and offered to allow me to buy another book and ship it one-day shipping and they refunded the shipping cost. I told them I only wanted a replacement book if they could guarantee it would be the 2007 version. Guess what? I got another 1980 version and this one had questions answered in ink as did the first one. Be careful buying used books with study questions in them since the questions may already be answered.

Note, with a quick glance, the two versions questions seem to be basically the same, but if you are teaching from one version it will make it awkward to have someone learning in another.

Growing In Christ: A Thirteen-Week Follow-Up Course for New and Growing Christians

This a great study course that I am teaching in our church. A needed course for those who just made Christ their savior and for those who need growth and assurance in their life.
I strongly recommend it.

We use this resource for our New Members class. Great for new Christians, great for long-time followers of Christ (review basics, assurance of salvation).

Our Church Youth Group (primarily a group that are comprised of ESL students) is going through the assurances during Sunday School and I find it very helpful to them in growing and setting a good foundation in Christ. It is short and basic enough that the youth group can read and understand the material fairly easily within a 30-45 minute time frame. The prep time is not overwhelming and actually has been very encouraging for me as well. I highly recommend this to a youth group or a group of recent believers longing to understand the foundations and assurances of the Christian Faith.

I love this book. I must have brought eleven of these books of which I have given nine of them to others because I think that it is such a great learning tool. Regardless to one's maturity level this book is beneficial. If one have been a Christian for a long time it helps them get back to the basics and if one is new to being a Christian it helps them get an understanding. I recommend this book to all Christians.

Our church uses this book in our beginning discipleship class. It is EXCELLENT.

This was a book recommended to us by our pastor. It is a workbook style book and I was disappointed to find out when we received it that it was filled out in ink. I feel that the listing should have stated this or it should have not been offered for sale. It is not even worth the price of the shipping. In the past we have ordered 2 books on separate occasions to give as gifts. One was sent in a thin envelope and damaged in the mail. The other was advertised as new and came in a box, but the book was scrunched. I do not plan to buy any more books from Amazon.com.

Our church routinely uses this to establish new Christ followers. Then we take then into the Nav 2:7 Growing Strong Discipleship series. Growing in Christ is simple yet effective. Includes scripture memory cards on the 13 lessons. It clearly establishes the truth of how to follow Christ. We use it for Jr. High, High School and Adult ministries. Effective!
