From the Back Cover

Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Matthew 6:33  Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit, a new Bible study created for First Place 4 Health, examines how each of us can grow in hope, love, joy, peace, patience, goodness, compassion, faith, gentleness and self-control. Each of these represent a “fruit” of the Spirit that God plants into our hearts—a seed that we must nourish daily with prayer and study in God’s Word in order for it to grow. Developing these fruit of the Spirit in our lives is critical, for they are the key to leading a balanced life—mentally, emotionally, physically and spiritually—so that we can truly put Christ first in all things! All-new and easy to use, each First Place 4 Health Bible study contains 12 weeks of daily study to help you put Christ in first place, as well as weekly Live It Trackers to document your progress. Also included are Scripture memory cards, a coordinating Scripture memory music CD, and two complete weeks of menu plans with grocery lists, recipes and detailed nutrition information. Based on proven techniques and 25 years of experience, First Place 4 Health invites you to try the most complete Christ-centered healthy living program available. First Place 4 Health will help you create balance in the four core areas of your life—emotional, spiritual, mental and physical. The results? Weight loss and total health from the inside out!  “A life-changing program with biblical integrity.” Beth Moore, Bestselling author of Praying God’s Word and Breaking Free

I enjoy the First Place 4 Health Bible Studies. This is all I wanted and needed in a Bible Study. The paper version is well formated and easy to read. Plenty of space to make notes. I like the fact that you are asked to look scriptures up in an order and not just randomly. For example, when making a point you are asked to look up a scripture in Joshua before Matthew then progress to I Timothy. I dislike random placement of scriptures that make you look to the back then the front with mixed placement of look-ups any where between.
Now for the negatives, the Kindle version is not nearly as easy to read. The formating, for lack of a better word, is sucky. The questions are in a font that is almost too small to read and you must have extra light to read them. The regular written part can be changed if the font size is wrong, but the questions are like a PDF file that won't let you change the font. That is the part I think is sucky. The rest of the bible study is no different. Of course you can't use the prayer pages or the food journal. The food journal is so small you can't see it at all.
Will I buy the Kindle version again? Not without major improvements.
The paper version, YES.

I've done 4 of these studies and usually the health and diet aspect is pounded into your head so much that I sometimes want to scream, "What about the other parts?" This book is totally awesome. It is centered on the fruits of the spirit and very little on diet. Each week focuses on just one thing -- joy, peace, goodness, etc. and the study is more in-depth than what I'm used to doing FP4H studies. I highly recommend this book.

This is a different method of studying the Fruit of the Spirit as the author mixes up the order and includes other Fruit that relates to Spirit Filled Living! We are at week 7 but the class has commented that the content is a serious challenge to be producing Fruit of the Spirit. There also has been a strong emphasis on building into each others lives through the exercise of the Fruit that we study each week. Been wanting to study this for a couple of years. Glad I did not wait any longer. As always there is a strong concern for the student to come to a saving knowledge of Jesus Christ.

I lead a small group on Friday mornings; we share breakfast and discuss the topics in Growing in the Fruit of the Spirit. This is the third book in the 1st Place for Health series we have studied. I find it challenging and thought provoking. It contains many tools for those of us who are committed to living a healthier, more balanced, Christ infused lifestyle! The CD is a great bonus! Pertinent scripture verses set to contemporary music!

This is my third Bible study through First Place 4 Health. It is easy to read and understand; helps keep me on track with my daily "quiet time" with God. Comes with a CD to help you memorize your weekly Bible verse.

I purchased this book for my participation in a Small Group at the Church I attend. The scriptures are eye opening and encourage faith, hope, discipline, love, etc.; however, I have some difficulty in connecting the workbook with the diet.

More About the Author

Carole Lewis is the national director of First Place 4 Health, the Christ-centered healthy living program. A member of the original First Place group that began in 1981, she has seen the program grow from 12 groups in one church to thousands of members at more than 12,000 churches throughout the nation and in many foreign countries.

When Carole attended the First Place orientation in March 1981, she was unsure of where God was leading, but knew she needed to make some lifestyle changes. A chance meeting with a friend from her past gave Carole the impetus to determine she did not want to be 'fat and 40.' She joined a First Place group and soon lost 20 pounds. Learning how to bring balance to her life motivated her to become a First Place leader to encourage others to achieve their goals.

Carole became the national director of First Place in 1987, and is now a popular speaker and author of eleven books. Carole leads conferences, Christian spas, workshops and seminars with an emphasis on personal and spiritual balance, fitness, encouragement and temperament analysis. Her audiences know her as warm, transparent, honest and humorous.

Carole and her husband, Johnny, have three children (one deceased) eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. They live in Houston, Texas.
