5.0 out of 5 stars A great book for any believer to learn about living in grace
An excellent book in that it combines Biblical truth and practical living. An great tool for anyone coming from a legalistic background or new believers that are learning about the new life that they have in Christ. The study guide makes this book an excellent choice for Bible studies or Sunday school classes. One of the best books I have ever read on the subject of...

3.0 out of 5 stars Better Books on Spiritual Maturity are Available
This title is the third I have read by Bob George. While this book gives good advice on how to rest in God's grace, it still does not equal the intensity of his best-selling work "Classic Christianity." George continues his strong emphasis upon the believer's ability to rely upon and to rest within God's grace rather than striving and struggling in the Christian...

This title is the third I have read by Bob George. While this book gives good advice on how to rest in God's grace, it still does not equal the intensity of his best-selling work "Classic Christianity." George continues his strong emphasis upon the believer's ability to rely upon and to rest within God's grace rather than striving and struggling in the Christian life.

This work, like all his others, is very readable and easy to understand. The reader must keep in mind however, that George is speaking as a counselor, not a theologian. He is also coming from a background of having struggled with legalism, and having counseled with many Christians who had the same struggle. At times George overstates his case, possibly to jolt any readers struggling with legalism into a new understanding of a life dependent upon the grace of God.

At this point, the only book by George I can strongly recommend is "Classic Christianity." Once the reader has grasped the truths it presents, the need for this volume decreases. There are many other books on the market that do a much better job of enhancing spiritual maturity than this one.

I actually read this book over ten years ago and it was life-changing for me in regards to my relationship with the Lord Jesus and how I was pursuing the same. The vast majority of people get frustrated and confused because they think of that relationship as rules and earning privileges when it is, in fact, a relationship with Someone who cares for us and has provided for everything we will need to live a successful and joyous life. You will definitely need to read through it a couple of times to get all the wonderful blessings out of it.

I first learned about this Book in a Home Group that I was visiting. It was also the early introduction to the message of Grace.

Bob George does a great job to explore the areas of ministry that have been mishandled to bring people into bondage. From the constant need for repentance to be forgiven, to the communion service where some believe that you need to become worthy to partake by confessing and repenting of all sin. All of these traditions take on new light in the message of Grace.

It is an excellent first step to understanding Grace.

indeed, "classic christianity" is a better book.

however, this book is still a good read; one of the better "new covenant" authors out there.

Bob George is so awesome in helping believer's in Christ understand what grace and Jesus is all about.

It will set you free from the legalistic religious teaching that has brain washed Christians for a long

time. I highly recommend this book and also Classic Christianity.

5.0 out of 5 stars Really helped me understand God's love in a deeper way, July 23, 2004

This was the first book I read by Bob George, and it has had a profound impact on my understanding of God's love for me. I have really appreciated his insights, the breadth of scripture he has shed light on, and the stories that illustrate the truths he talks about. Not only has the book been an encouragement in and of itself, but it has encouraged me to delve more deeply into the scriptures myself. Though the study guide is fairly simple, it has been a great tool for helping me think through the scriptures that Mr. George is writing about. I highly recommend this book to anyone, whether they are currently a Christian or not, as I think it gives such a powerful portrayal of what it means to know God, and to be known by God. I am really looking forward to reading Classic Christianity!
