Having a black thumb, I've always passed by the herbs in the nursery while shopping for my "easy grow" plants. I grabbed this book while it was still priced at .99 and am so glad I did. This well written and concise book covers selecting, re-planting, growing, and trimming your herbs. The author provides 3 of the most important tips to growing healthy plants - thank goodness - I now know why my indoor plants have fuzzy mold and mildew! Definitely worth the small price for that info.

I was surprised to discover that feeding your plants at the "right time" and selecting the fertilizer was so important. There is a whole section devoted to common issues you may have and how to avoid them. Very helpful addition to my Kindle library.

1.0 out of 5 stars This book is a joke September 24, 2012

I've been cooking a lot more and was looking at possibly growing some kind of indoor herb garden to cut down on the costs during the winter. As part of doing some research I came across this book. I've learned more from Google searches and free information on blogs than I did in this book.

First of all, it's like 30 pages long.

Second of all, the information is waaaaay too simplistic.

I read the whole kindle book like like 5 minutes. This is my first foray into gardening books, but at least I know it can only get better from here.

Information I would have expected to find, but did not find:
- How to select a proper space for each type of herb. The author mentions that different herbs might have different requirements, but only mentions rosemary as an example.
- How to construct an herb vessel. Maybe some ideas? Illustrations? On another website I read that basil should be staked indoors because it can grow so tall. Nothing about any special requirements for any herbs in this "book."
- How to control the pH in soil. She mentions that different plants require different pH levels, but makes no mention of how to control pH or what those requirements are.
- Information on more than just her favorite 7 herbs. Looking for info on herbs other than mint, chives, thyme, rosemary, parsley, oregano or basil? You won't find it here.

Save your money, look elsewhere. Also, this review is longer than the actual book. Seriously.

It is imperative to get to know how to grow herbs indoord. You never know when the neighbors might object. I grew some beautiful mint leaves over here in Denmark and was stopped by the customs agents. I told them this is my happy weed and we all had a good laugh.

More About the Author

When I got into my mid 30's I noticed that I lost a lot of my energy and zest. I was moody, tired and not really enjoying life that much. Little did I know, it had a LOT to do with what I was eating. Once I discovered that you really are what you eat, I started a lifelong journey in studying different foods, herbs and spices and how they could improve your health. My books are a culmination of what I have learned through study as well as trial and error. I have written them for you in the hopes that you, too, can improve your health and enjoy life more simply by eating delicious and healthy food!
