Looking through this book, I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the aging body, as well as inspired that getting older does not mean frailty and inactivity, but independence and renewed energy. Everyone of us can strive to be *our* best, no matter what activity we choose, from surfing to swimming, dancing and senior olympic sports, to body building. Age makes no difference, it is your inner spirit that keeps you young and vital!

Photographs of older athletes.,

Etta Clark's subjects, all older people who are very active, show that older people can struggle against the ravages of time and gravity. And the subjects, in their photographs, display a courage and beauty all their own

Etta Clark does an outstanding job showing us that old age can be entered into gracefully; the pictures and bio info are great

Life Time of Inspiration,

I bought this book when I was newly divorced and in my 40's and living in San Diego; one of the most conspicuously fitness oriented cities in the world.
This book; more than all the books I had on bodybuilding including those by Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bill Pearl and Mike Mentzer; help me to joyfully resolve to stay fit at least into my 80's and maybe beyond. My favorite story was about an 81 year-old grandmother who won a power lifting contest for 45-50 year-old men because there were no women in her age group to compete against. I am not surprised to see that it has become so prized and expensive to purchase. It is well-worth the price for the beauty and vitality it will inspire you to achieve and maintain:)!!Growing Old Is Not for Sissies: Portraits of Senior Athletes (Bk. 1)

This book will give anyone saying "I'm too old for that" a swift kick in the bejeezus. The beauty of the photos lies not in the pieced together products of plastic enhancement, nor a silly striving towards unnatural physical imagery, but a steering towards excellence with a natural grace, not contingent upon the looks factor but upon the look what's possible factor. A book full of eye-popping eye candy for the 20-40 something set. "I can" is so much more explicit in this book than just "I wish I could". Get the book, then get a life! I so recommend both.
