5.0 out of 5 stars Common Sense Approach to Investing
While this book might not be flashy enough for today's dot.com crowd, which thinks it can make a fortune through rapid day trading, I found it to be excellent reading for those who want to build a solid, long-term stock portfolio. My guess is if you follow the advice in this book, you'll make a ton more money than you will trying to play the day trading game. What's...

Don't buy the book for an entertaining read, unless you just enjoy reading about the personal home life and/or chidhood of famous investors. I found that part irrelevent and very boring.

The book is well worth its price, however, for the top ten growth stock picks by each of the five featured investors. That's really the only information of value in the book, but...

What's more, I found the investor biographies to be very interesting reading. It was a nice break from other investment books which seem to overlooad readers with a bunch of numbers and jargon. I especially recommend this book to readers who are rather new to investing. It is a fun read that's easy to understand.

The book is well worth its price, however, for the top ten growth stock picks by each of the five featured investors. That's really the only information of value in the book, but they probably couldn't sell very many copies of a 5-page book, so you're stuck with the filler.

1.0 out of 5 stars very superficial and redundant info, July 2, 1999

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: Growing Rich With Growth Stocks: Wall Street's Top Money Managers Reveal the 12 Rules for Investment Success (Hardcover)
this book is a repeat of the basic tenets of investing. It is very shallow and repetitive. The experts' (Davis,Bramwell,Papp,Yacktman,Stovall) views have been known for years and have been expressed by them in the media

The biographies of each of the experts, which absorbs more than 30 pages is unnecessary and boring

Overall, I was extremely disappointed with the content, all old hat and redundant.

1.0 out of 5 stars Complete waste of time, January 22, 2001

Unfortunately the recent bull market has generated an entire group of would-be financial experts. They write useless books on the subject they have hard time grasping. This book is a good example of a book that can actually hurt you as an investor. Mr. Kazanjian obviously has little or no idea about such things as asset allocation and modern portfolio theory. His bright idea is: "Hey, High Tech is hot, put your money into it!". I wonder what exactly Mr. Kazanjian would tell his readers know, when Nasdaq is down, bull market is over and his readers actually lost money. Complete and utter waste of time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fundamental rules of investing, July 10, 1999

This review is from: Growing Rich With Growth Stocks: Wall Street's Top Money Managers Reveal the 12 Rules for Investment Success (Hardcover)
I found this book to contain an enormous amount of practical information for long term investment success. This isn't a book for day traders, but for those who want to build a steady, sure investment program using time-tested techniques. It's very easy to read and understand. I also very much enjoyed the biographies of the featured managers. It shows their varied backgrounds and how their past experiences shaped their investment beliefs. This is much better than most of the investment books out there today that simply have a bunch of charts and numbers. I highly recommend "Growing Rich with Growth Stocks."

This review is from: Growing Rich With Growth Stocks: Wall Street's Top Money Managers Reveal the 12 Rules for Investment Success (Hardcover)
This is a great primer for both experienced and novice investors. It contains the 12 rules of investment success and shows what to look for when buying any stock. I also enjoyed the biographies of the five featured managers. It's very interesting to hear about what makes them tick. This was a very enjoyable and easy-to-understand book. Kazanjian is a wonderful writer who makes learning about investing fun.

1.0 out of 5 stars Too much idle chatter and not enough advice, August 4, 1999

This review is from: Growing Rich With Growth Stocks: Wall Street's Top Money Managers Reveal the 12 Rules for Investment Success (Hardcover)
Over fifty percent of this book is filler, most of it biographies of fund managers and descriptions of their home lives. Most of the advice is pretty generic, none of which gave me any better insight on how to pick growth stocks.

5.0 out of 5 stars Insightful Approach to Investing, May 30, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Growing Rich With Growth Stocks: Wall Street's Top Money Managers Reveal the 12 Rules for Investment Success (Hardcover)
I bought this book after seeing Kazanjian on TV. It's really an excellent guidebook for investing. The book is also very interesting and easy to read. No complicated formulas, just good common sense that every investor should follow. It's also interesting to read about the gurus Kazanjian interviewed. It's like getting a great biography and investment advice in one book!
