Charles Swindoll has written a devotional that is an excellent source for spiritual growth and insight. His parallel of the times of life to the seasons of the year is nothing short of inspirational. With Charles Swindoll's expert guidance, you will see how you can deepen your spiritual commitment and discover what is truly important in your life.

This book has been a source of both comfort and inspiration to me in my times of need. Feeling depressed? Lonely? He has the answers for you. He talks about things that we experience every day - Expectations, Love, Doubt, Forgiveness, Friendship. A timeless companion...

Charles Swindoll talks about life and spirituality in a down-to-earth, easy-to-grasp fashion. He shows a keen understanding of the human condition...it's strengths as well as weaknesses. He suggests practical, sometimes fun actiivities after every chapter to start the readers on their way to true, meaningful change. A very helpful guide to daily living....

This book covers a lot of thoughts and feelings that can be shared with your family, or used as an interactive group study guide.

I would like to give some compliments to this book, I once had a copy, but am now trying to reaquire another. Charles Swindoll has devided his book up into 144 essays so a person can read 3 a week. Some of my favorite essays is called the electronic drug (reference to television) taliking about how TV can be so mind numbing almost like some of the illegal drugs. And the other essay refers to consistency. Charles Swindoll talks about being consistent in daily habits toward toward virtues like kindness, generosity etc. Also choosing to be diligent in working your way to a goal. This book may not be a quick road to wealth, but it can lay the foundation for the use of other wealth building books. I highly recommend it.

I have really enjoyed this book. One thing I like about it is a daily study with scriptures to back it up. I like to sit and read each morning with a cup of coffee and my bible. I really recommend it as a daily devotional.

I am so fortunate to have found a used hardback copy of this wonderful devotional type book. Winter - stories and quotes - the "season of reverence. Spring - the journey that enjoys a "season of refreshing." Summer - stories to enjoy that are "restful", and fall- stories of nostalgic reflection.

The author provides wonderful short stories, Bible quotations, encouragement to "grow stronger and taller as our roots dig deeper in the soft soil along the banks of the river of life". This is a thrilling book - guaranteed to lift your spirits. Give copies to your friends - paperback copies can still be found - this gift to all people written thoughtfully by a practical, joyful, and humble Pastor who can make you laugh, make you think, and make you stronger in faith, is a treasure in my library.

The book came in great shape and very quickly! I was so glad to receive it and I have loved it thus far!

From the very first illustration to the closing words of this daily devotional, the author paints a vivid, user friendly gallery of scenerios carefully linked to and supported by strong and stable principles of scripture. It is a must read for those who desire to start their day with the Lord.

While "Growing Strong In The Seasons Of Life" was written in the early 1980s, its truths, like the timeless Holy Bible, applies to us today. Swindoll's book is divided into 4 sections, each corresponding to a particular season of the year:

1. Winter - A Season of Reverence. Represents the tough times a Christian goes through that God uses to strengthen us for larger challenges down the road.
2. Spring - A Season of Renewal. Represents new opportunities God brings into our lives for new beginnings and challenges.
3. Summer - A Season of Rest. Represents a time to relax and slow down from the activities from our Spring season.
4. Fall - A Season of Reflection. Represents a time to gain new perspective in our lives and to be sensitive to God's leading and direction as He chooses.

Each section contains around 100 pages and around 25 devotions that apply to the particular season.

Another great book by Swindoll. Slow down, read, and enjoy!
