This is one of the best gardening books I have ever bought. The author has a wonderful sense of humor and the material is easy to read and follow. This book is definitely great for the amateur gardener. The recipes included for each vegetable are so delicious! Gardeners in all 50 states (not just Hawaii) will find this book enjoyable.

This is a great gardening book! I received it as a gift and found it especially helpful in answering my questions on pesticides and alternatives to pesticides. My little backyard garden is now in much better shape. The recipes included taste just like mom's home cooking.

Excellent gardening book. Even though we live in Florida, the book is very valuable for growing vegetables in our climate. Great, easy and delicious recipes too. What a great idea to have recipes in a gardening book.

I have spent my life gardening in a cold climate. How on earth do you move to Hawaii and figure out what will grow and when you should plant it?

Well, here are the answers I was looking for. This book was written by a woman who grew up in a farming family and farms in Hawaii. She even tells us what kind of bugs are going to be after our produce. Those 6" long centipedes are going to be a challenge to face. Do you step on them?

It wasn't as easy finding information online on Hawaii-specific gardening, and some of the books I found at the library were ridiculously awful. This book is amazing though. The thing I use most is a chart that lists all the planting seasons for all of the vegetables that the book covers. It's a quick way to figure out which plants you want to pick up at the hardware store. The price is right on - I found a used copy for the same price at a bookstore in Kona. Glad I bought it new on Amazon. It covers about 99% of the necessary info for each veggie (99% more than any other Hawaiian gardening book), not including listing varieties that grow better at specific elevations. Great reference book for every stage of the plant. The pages are pretty much waterproof which is nice since I can read it on the toilet and the shower steam won't warp it (or I can mix a soluble fertilizer right next to it without worry). Now if I could only evict my nematodes...

A must have for those who need information on how to grow vegetables on the big island. I'm looking to move to the big island and this book is exactly what I was looking for.

We have a lot of unique problems with gardening in Hawaii. This book has been very helpful to us! Do wish it had more info on cabbage worms.
