Despite all these changes, or even because of them, I appreciate more and more how the principles and practices of psychosynthesis can empower and transform people's lives. I found much to update, polish, and clarify in this revision of Growing Whole, but I made very few changes to the essential concepts; their relevancy endures. In these times of uncertainty and hardship, we need more than ever to work on our own personal and spiritual development to meet the challenges ahead. Psychosynthesis can help us do this.
I decided to change the subtitle to a more positive note, from "Self-realization on an Endangered Planet" to "Self-realization for the Great Turning." Most of us now know we live on an endangered planet, but fewer of us are aware of the potential for transformation that is also at hand. The term "the Great Turning" (described in detail in the Introduction) speaks to that potential, and invites everyone's participation in the greatest adventure of our times.
"I rejoice in this book and the clear, immediate wisdom it brings. It is like a trusted friend with whom we find our own authenticity and embark on the great adventures of our lives." --Joanna Macy, Ph.D., author of World As Lover, World As Self.
"One of the two or three best books I've read on personal and cultural transformation."--Bill Plotkin, Ph.D., author of Nature and the Human Soul.
"Clear and deep, a precious tool for inner work, it will stay with you over the years." --Dr. Yoav Dattilo, President, Italian Society of Psychosynthesis Psychotherapy (SIPT)
