Feel the ferocity of Ju-On, July 4, 2005
This review is from: The Grudge (Score) (Audio CD)
I was glad that we finally have some late 20th Century avant garde scoring in a recent film. The movie itself was only a weak horror show, which only had jump scenes to scare movie buffs.
The music is briliiant, although it is remeniscient of music heard in "The Shining". I'm talking about "Polymorphia", or the snowy maze scene at the end of "The Shining".
Either way, this music is very well used and was the only good element in "The Grudge". This is one of the most intense horror movie soundtracks today, which provides the real feeling of intense anger from the curse Ju-On.
Not since Elliot Goldenthal has another composer utilised this style of scoring, thank God, we need more of it in today horror films and less rock-and-roll.

pretty freaky, December 28, 2004
This review is from: The Grudge (Score) (Audio CD)
this is a well done soundtrack...my only complaint about it is that the violin parts can get a bit tedious...but I guess they are really good because I didn't even notice them when I saw the movie...so...overall...very good! ...also a very creepy theme
