My preschool children love this book about a kind farmer and her animals. As the impatient animals demand breakfast, love, and attention from the sleepy farmer, parents and children can draw some humorous parallels to their own family mornings!

The pictures are great, and you can never go wrong with farm animals to capture a child's interest. The latent feminist in me was very pleased to discover that the farmer was a woman. I've read this to my 2 1/2 year old son at least fifty times, and he keeps asking it for it!

My toddler daughter absolutely loves this book. She likes seeing the farm animals and making the animal sounds. She loves to find the owl on each page. I enjoy the rhyming and the simple story. We enjoy this book so much I bought a second copy because we are wearing out the book!

I got this book from Scholastic Book Orders (I am a teacher)...it came with a CD, which puts the book to song...it's so cute...I teach 2nd grade, and the kids LOVE it...I do too..!

The Grumpy Morning is a fun book to read to youngsters. Filled with ryhming sentences, the text seems to roll of off your tongue. Young children will enjoy hearing about the noise and ruckus the farm animals create when they realize they have not been fed. This misfortune creates the mood for The Grumpy Morning. After travelling through the farm with each animal, the author takes you into the farmers bedroom, who seems to have slept through her morning ritual of feeding her animals. As she is awoke by the noise of the grumpy animals, she emerges with a smile on her face and proceeds to feed and love her animals.The story is told from the point of view of a barn owl, who cannot go to sleep because of all of the noise that morning. The final page of the book shows the owl in his nestm finally ready to go to sleep, now that his friends are fed, happy, and most importantly quiet.

This delightful audio book captivated both my 4 year-old granddaughter and me! The narrator sings the book twice: once with an audio signal to turn the page and again without the audio signal (for advance readers). The story is simple but clever, and the pictures are precious. This is a great book to be read together or alone just before bedtime!

I teach preschoolers and they like this book very much. They enjoy making the "grumpy" animal sounds (for instance I ask them how a cow would moo in a grumpy way) - they really get into it, making funny faces. We talk about how people get grumpy, too, and they love to talk about when their family members get grumpy! The pictures are cute and colorful. I definitely recommend this book for reading to young children.

The farm as a loving, caring place. Wonderful book.
