This is the original cheese that I liked as a kid. The Swiss gruyere or gretzer is a bit harder and less fragrant, I think. The French do great justice to this cheese, and it is versatile beyond calculation. Not only good alone on bread with an apple on the side, it is great in Fondue and superlative as a topping for cauliflower au gratin or any au gratin.

Excellent product and delivered exactly as promised. When I am in need of a refill, will definitely use Amazon/igourmet.

Maybe it's because this "swiss" cheese comes from France, but either way I really like it. I bought it for my fiancee. She loves gruyere, but the selection at our local shops is pretty weak, at least in my opinion. She's generally been happy, but I had yet to find anything I could enjoy with her.

Well I've had such good luck with everything else I've bought from igourmet that I decided to give this a try. I must admit I still like the Beemster xo double-aged gouda better, but this really is an excellent cheese with a very nice, complex taste. Even if you don't like swiss, give this a try!

I went to France to see my family this summer, and discovered Comte. I fell in love with it quickly. Still not sure why. But it is very delicious, and doesn't smell too bad. Must remember to find an actual gourmet shop that sells this in Florida.

(I am seriously considering asking for this cheese for Christmas.)

Comte cheese is terrific, a thin slice of it .. and another one, and again ! Hard to stop, very very tasty. The first customer review doesn't mention it, but Comte cubes are also very good in salads as well.
