Not the usual kind of Swiss cheese,

This review is from: Gruyere - Pound Cut (1 pound) (Misc.)
If you like cheese - and I'm not talking about the kind you mindlessly slap on a hamburger or sprinkle over a side dish at the salad bar - you'll love Gruyere. My wife, who is Swiss, introduced me to Gruyere cheese via fondue (where it's traditionally encountered) when we were living in Europe. But when we had some left over one weekend, I tried a slice of it with a green apple ... and the rest is history. I simply fell in love with it. Gruyere is a gourmet cheese and it's price reflects that fact. So be careful, it's expensive ... and not for the obsessive calorie counter. But if your pallet is discriminating and you enjoy fine, quality foods, then indulge yourself. You won't regret anything except the fact that you didn't buy more! PS: Have a good white wine ready if you plan to make fondue, or a good red wine ready if you have a slice with some fruit! Bon Apetite! |
