I bought this as a gift for my niece who is a teacher. This version is not the same as my personal copy. When comparing the two, this version is 8 minutes shorter than mine and the parts cut from this video were, in my opinion, what made the movie deliver such a wonderful message. I'd love to purchase the original movie.

The original release of this movie is GREAT! It was one of those rare films that can inspire. But beware Feature Films for Familes took this movie & edited out the parts that made it great.

I have not seen this VHS copy. I saw the original film and it was just wonderful and inspiring for youth everywhere. a definite must-see.

This video is a great educational tool for teaching about differences. Martha Plinpton plays a extremely excentric long-term substitute teacher to a group of inner-city kids. The ways she expands their minds is very poignant and at the same time hilariously funny. It is a great video to show in class and discuss afterwards.

This CD contains one track the is Big Blue Soundtrack music the rest are from other films which I was not aware I was getting. I was under the impression I was getting the full soundtrack for the big blue movie music by Bill Conti. This was a very big dissapointment !!

Although this movie is a kind of modern on-the-streets story of young school kids, it possesses a kind of timelessness that is refreshing. It is fun to watch, and it is fine for the whole family. I would recommend it.

I'm very, very disappointed by the DVD version of this film. I saw the original a long time ago and was enchanted by it, and for that reason I bought a copy for my granddaughters to enjoy. However this version cuts out nearly all of why the orginal was so good, all the magic, wonder and spirit of the original version are gone and nothing is left of why Ms. Ferenczi was so very special. Very disappointing, in spite of other reviews I took a chance but feel cheated by the editing of the film.
