Non-stick coating is non-existent,
By
This review is from: Gtxpress 101 (Pamphlet)
I purchased this item for Christmas but today sent it to the trash. Despite extreme care, using plastic lifter, generous use of Pam or other oils, food sticks every time and the item is almost impossible to clean. I would say it worked well for about the first month. We have kept using it but finally reached the point of too much frustration. This item is a very good idea but with poor execution -- it needs a very strong non-stick finish.

Cooking surface bubbles,
By Lynne (California) - See all my reviews

I do not recommend this product. After only 4 months of use, the cooking surface started to bubble, even though I seasoned the pan as per the directions. This product was a waste of money.

Total waste of money...,
This review is from: Gtxpress 101 (Pamphlet)
Both times I have used my brand-new GT Express (following the instructions to the letter), the food was completely fused to the "non-stick" surface and had to be scraped out in bits and pieces, making a big mess on the counter and ruining the appearance of the food. Because of the incinerated "crust" fused to both the top and bottom wells, cleanup is quite a chore, too. This product is a huge disappointment and I highly recommend AGAINST purchasing it; if I could rate it "0," I would.

Disappointed,
By Cathy (Illinois) - See all my reviews

Followed all instructions, for keeping it non stick, seasoning it, using nonstick spray, when called for in recipe book. Cakes and eggs were a nightmare, about the only thing that did not stick was sandwiches wrapped with a tortilla. Very disappointed,so now it is seldom used.

nice alternative to oven,
By Our GT Express 101 came quickly (we did the 2 for 1). We LOVE it. I make chocolate chip pancake every day for the boys which they love because they can hold it and dip them. We've made omlets, stuffed soup and misc. other meals. We haven't turned our oven on once. I'm careful about using non-stick spray and cleaning it. I haven't had any trouble with the non-stick coating peeling off. I've also had no trouble cleaning the unit or hinges (a common complaint in the reviews). I like having two of them because the boys rarely eat the things the adults do. They can have corn dogs (which come out great) while we have stuffed chicken breast. The other complaint that worried me was one gentleman said everything came out soggy. I haven't found that to be true AT ALL. The eggs come out fluffy, the pancakes perfect (and no standing over the griddle to flip them which makes school mornings MUCH easier). The ONLY time I had a little sogginess was when I accidentally added too much american cheese to the eggs, oh well. Gooey cheese isn't so bad! I would recommended this product to anyone with a small, hot kitchen, a busy lifestyle or tired of eating hot dogs and chicken nuggets with the kids!!!!!

Do Not Buy This Item,
This review is from: Gtxpress 101 (Pamphlet)
I Bought the Deluxe on Jan 6th from Ebay Brand New. After a Month the Non-Stick surface is starting to come off. The Company won't help, due to the fact I did not buy directly from them. I very highly recommend not buying this product

GT Express 101,
By
This review is from: Gtxpress 101 (Pamphlet)
After purchasing the GT Express 101 it quickly became one of my favorite small appliances. I used it a lot and it was simple enough for my husband, who can barely boil water, to use also.
However, in spite of using the plastic utensil that came with the product, the teflon (or whatever) coating began chipping off by about the 4th time we used it, which was frustrating. The coating is mostly gone now, and I'm thinking about buying another one in spite of this. It is easy to use, and other than the coating, is entirely as seen on TV.

BUYERS BEWARE,
This review is from: Gtxpress 101 (Pamphlet)
I made a huge mistake not reading the reviews on this site before purchasing this item. It is a very cheap looking shoddily made in china item. "Teflon" peeled off within 3 weeks and now it's in the trash. I lost $ on this product. A friend returned hers and she lost over $45 in so-called shipping and handling charges.
Very disappointing and a waste of money.

we LOVE it but no-stick coating wears away,
By
This review is from: Gtxpress 101 (Pamphlet)
I bought the GT Xpress when they first come out and WE LOVE it! It is easy enough that my children use it every morning to make breakfast and my oldest is asking for one for her college dorm.
However, after we had it about one month the non-stick coating had worn off in spots. We have to use a LOT of spray when using it. Even with the problem with the non-stick coating, I am planning to buy another one. |
