First of all, Pete Seeger is someone every American needs to know about. If you've ever seen him live, you know that he exudes a love for his fellow humans that is beatific. Second, the affection in the room for Jose Marti's story is palpable--this is a touching live performance. As a slice of life from the 1960s, it is fascinating to listen to the earnest folksinger and the open-hearted audience. It's a fresh performance by both singer and audience and makes this recording a significant archive of American culture. Listening to this recording is like being a ghost in the room.
