Editorial Reviews

This set features all three films from the Harold & Kumar franchise: “Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle,” “Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay,” and “A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” all on Blu-ray Disc. The “Harold & Kumar Blu-ray Collector’s Edition” is packaged in a fun flip collectible tin.

“Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle” - Directed by Danny Leiner (“Dude Where’s My Car?,” TV’s “Backwash”), " Harold and Kumar Go to White Castle" follows John Cho (“American Pie” films, “Star Trek”) and Kal Penn (TV’s “House”, “The Namesake,” “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” films) as they set out on a journey to satisfy their craving for White Castle’s delicious burgers and find themselves on a hilarious all-night adventure as they run into one wacky obstacle after another.

“Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay” - The second installment of the franchise marks the triumphant return of these two hilarious, slacker anti-heroes. The movie stars John Cho (“American Pie” films, “Star Trek”) as Harold and Kal Penn (TV’s “House”, “The Namesake,” “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” films) as Kumar, two stoners who can’t seem to get a break. Their last adventure found them traveling across country to find a White Castle hamburger in order to satisfy a weed-induced case of “the munchies.” This time, the boys get themselves in trouble trying to sneak a bong onboard a flight to Amsterdam. Now, being suspected of terrorism, they are forced to run from the law and try to find a way to prove their innocence. What follows is an irreverent and epic journey of deep thoughts, deeper inhaling and a wild trip around the world that is as “un-PC” as it gets.

“A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” - Following years of growing apart, Harold Lee (Cho) and Kumar Patel (Penn) have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempts to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents – and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree – going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar, through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven – and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
“A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas” stars John Cho (“American Pie” films, “Star Trek”) and Kal Penn (TV’s “House”, “The Namesake,” “National Lampoon’s Van Wilder” films). Of course, it would not be a Harold & Kumar film without Neil Patrick Harris (TV’s “How I Met Your Mother”), who returns along with Paula Garces (TV’s “Defying Gravity”) as Maria; Danneel Harris (“The Roommate”) as Vanessa; Tom Lennon (“I Love You Man”) as Harold's new best friend, Todd and Bobby Lee (“Pineapple Express”) as Kenneth Park..

4.0 out of 5 stars Gift for my Husband January 8, 2013
By Axel
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
My husband loves the Harold and Kumar movies, so when I saw that there was a Blu-ray edition out with a collectible metal case, I was thrilled! He had them on DVD and is slowly swapping his movies from DVD to Blu-ray. I bought this for him for Christmas and it he loved it! My only problem is that the metal case was slightly dented... but that probably happened during shipping.

5.0 out of 5 stars 3rd one's a charm December 21, 2012
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
Hysterical to say the least. The 2 stoners are back for more adventure. I met Kal Penn a long time ago but he was so cool it's not even funny. So I guess you could say I have a connection with the Harold and Kumar series. I enjoyed every minute of it.
Plus the hot girls in it didn't hurt LOL

4.0 out of 5 stars Great Set I love the EXTRAS!!!! February 22, 2014
Format:Blu-ray|Verified Purchase
Everything about this set is awesome. You get a bunch of extra bonus items which include a coaster set for your beverages and a set of 3 Car Freshners. I would give it a 5 star but the collectors case was a great novel idea however it was cheaply made and dings and dents fairly easily. Other than that it's a great collection. Wish they would make another Harold and Kumar soon.

3.0 out of 5 stars Harold & Kumar Trilogy on Blu-ray February 5, 2014
The Harold & Kumar films are very funny and will have you laughing practically non-stop. You get 3 films on 3 discs in this collection: Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, Harold & Kumar Escape from Guantanamo Bay, and A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas. 'White Castle' and 'Guantanamo Bay' offer the unrated versions, while 'Christmas' includes both the R-rated and unrated cuts (but not the 3D version of Christmas which is sold separately). Overall, the picture quality is very good and audio quality is great. The three films come packaged inside a collectible tin box with a White Castle scented air freshener and White Castle scented coasters. The whole thing comes in a larger package designed to mimic a lighter. There is over 2.5 hours of total bonus content plus 5 audio commentaries (although Christmas doesn't have an audio commentary). The sequels are lacking in bonus content and the first two films could use a good remastering. This set works as a value pack because the price is right but it is not a deluxe edition of the films. These are 4 star films in a 3 star package since it is simply a repackaging of three existing Blu-ray discs. UltraViolet digital copies are *not* provided for the films (although the stand-alone versions come with them).

Video Resolution/Codec: 1080p AVC/MPEG-4; 1080p VC-1 | Aspect Ratio: 1.85:1; 2.40:1
Audio Formats: English DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1, English DTS-HD Master Audio 7.1, Spanish Dolby Digital 5.1, Portuguese Dolby Digital 5.1, French Dolby Digital 5.
