It has saved me a ton of time as I no longer need to use the paper shredder, with rare exception.
Maria
It doesn't work at all on prescription bottle labels, after a few minutes it all just seems to bead up and almost disappear, leaving the label clearly visible.
Deborah Hooper
This ID stamp really blocks out your name and address on magazines, catalogues and other personal information which you want to keep private when recycling.

While I love the concept of this product it's completely worthless. Take an address on anything (doesn't even have to be a glossy paper- regular paper doesn't work either) and stamp it. Later take a black magic marker and color over where you stamped, there will be your address as clear as day!

We were given this item as a gift. We liked it so well we ordered some for other family members, plus an extra one for us. After reading the other reviews that commented on being able to wipe the stamp off of certain items we read the instructions that come with the stamp. It does not adhere well to magazines or anything that has a "slick" finish. The ink is "grease" base that covers printed paper matter really great; things like printed checks that come with credit card notices or anything you print off the computer, etc. We will continue to use as it has cut down on some of our items to shred.

The stamp itself is pretty good ... completely covers name and address without being able to read through. The problem is the ink. I accidentally wiped something I stamped with my arm and it all wiped off. I thought maybe it wasn't dry enough so I went to my recycle bin and pulled something out that I stamped the day before and it wiped off with and paper towel. I tried a few different types of mail and all wiped off.

I purchased this for certain things that can't be shredded or are difficult to shred, like prescription bottle labels, catalog address area and order forms, etc.. It doesn't work at all on prescription bottle labels, after a few minutes it all just seems to bead up and almost disappear, leaving the label clearly visible. On some paper it actually makes the information pop or almost stand up above the print of the ID guard stamp. I don't know if this is limited to just the Kespon Plus, or all stamps have this same problem.

I got some of the ink on my hands and figured it would be really hard to get it off so I went straight for the tough stuff, La's Totally Awesome cleaner and it removed it immediately, almost too easily. So I then sprayed the cleaner on a paper towel and took it to my desk and tried it on several different types of paper I had stamped, it removed even the oldest cover up. You might think that this is just a great cleaner, but the identity thieves will also know what works to remove this type of supposed protection.

I'm sending it back and writing Plus Corporation a strongly worded letter also. I am now heading to other sites that take opinions on products and I'm leaving the same message, this product does not protect your identity at all.

This product is billed as an alternative to a shredder claiming that it allows the user to obscure sensitive information on particular varieties of paper. While the stamp does appear to hide information on porous paper, information can be made visible again with a black permanent marker.

My experience: Prior to purchasing my stamp, I never realized how much of my mail had a glossy surface. As has been noted in other reviews, this stamp does not work very well on glossy materials. I tried it on magazines and random postcards and the ink is easily wiped away. While disappointed, I then turned to items that seemed to be of a paper type that would allow for my information to be effectively obscured. I stamped away on several invoices and credit card offers that I had lying around and upon inspection it seemed like my address was successfully hidden. I was initially impressed but then I started thinking. In the past I had tried using a black permanent marker to cover my mailing address on junk mail items but found that my address was always visible if one looked carefully. So, as another reviewer did, I retrieved a black permanent marker and colored over where I had used the stamp. Like magic, my information was visible.

This is a good concept but just does not work. I purchased my stamp from Bed Bath and Beyond and it will be going back.

This product is made in Taiwan.

I like to share some of my magazines with other people, but I'm always reluctant to leave my name and mailing address on the magazine, as you never know where it might end up. I purchased the ID Guard Stamp thinking this would easily solve my problem. The only thing, it dosen't work. Used the stamp to block out my name and address, but after 4-days you could just wipe off the ink. Tried to double stamp it and blot off the excess ink. Same results, after 4-days you could still take a dry tissue and wipe the ink off. So, if you buying this with the intentions of covering up your ID, on glossy paper. Save your money. ###

I was in the process of replacing my shredder when I came upon this product. Read the other reviews and thought, okay.. good concept, cost effective, portable, and environmentally friendly. So I purchased it along with refill.

I gave it a try. I left my credit card bill drying for several days and decide to run some tests. I wet the card number area where I marked it and did the rub test. The ink for the most part stayed on the area but then I placed my wet credit card statement on my window and to my surprise, I was able to clearly make out the credit card numbers.

The product is a good concept that needs improvement. Unfortunately, I have to shop for a new shredder.
