Editorial Reviews

From the Author

Guardian Angel is the fifth and final installment of the Psionic Pentalogy, so if you haven't yet read the previous books, please go back and start with the first, which is Wild-born.

To those who have followed the series this far, you have my utmost gratitude for your continued loyal support. You are now entering the final stage of this journey, and I will say nothing about it so as not to ruin it for you.

If you have already posted one or more reviews of the books in this series, know that I am doubly grateful for each and every one. Indie writers like myself do not have the support of large publishing houses for promoting our works, and as such we rely very heavily on word-of-mouth from our readers. If you haven't posted any reviews yet, please consider doing so when you finish Guardian Angel.

Full disclosure: I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. The opinions below are entirely my own.

And here we are, on the last page. Well, the first of the last pages. "Guardian Angel" follows "The Quest" and is the final book in Adrian Howell's PSIONIC Pentalogy. I highly recommend reading the other four books before this one - not only are they entirely worth reading, but you may be lost on several points in this book if you don't. The author will put some effort into catching people up, but it's really more of a refresher for those who space out their reading. This review may contain spoilers for the previous books, so if you'd rather skip it (or my ridiculously long reviewing style!) head on down to the last full paragraph, my "bottom line". It'll be safe there, honest!

"Guardian Angel" starts out a little while after "The Quest", likely in the interest of moving plot along - the author has learned, over the course of the books, what to keep and what to cut, and it shows. Compared to the lagging pacing of "The Tower", "Guardian Angel" shows remarkable improvement. I personally stayed up all night to finish it, because I couldn't bear to wait to learn what happened next - and I haven't done that since the last Harry Potter book! The author has mastered mixing an intense, engrossing plot with tight pacing and edge-of-your-seat excitement, creating an unforgettable finale.

Prior books have had ups and downs in the pace, as respite followed battle creating a marked rhythm in the stories. However, in "Guardian Angel" even the light respites are tense and emotionally-packed, as it feels from the start that everything is on the line, and the feeling just keeps growing.

This is the very strong ending of a very strong story. I cannot recall a seriesnof books that I have enjoyed more, and I have read many series in my life.

Indies publishing does not havebig publicity behind it so please let my enthusiasm for this series encourage you to buy and read...I recommend it absolutely to anyone with a tastes for a tight well written sci ti type story with heroic overtones and many unexpected twists and turns and an unexpected, but wholly satisfying ending.

This is the best series I have ever read. I wouldn't mind being an author some day. But I never would be that good. You should have won first place on this book. You may never read this comment but I hope you do. This book is better than the hunger games. If only I could give it more stars. My only disappointment is that it had to end. I read the whole series in about 3 weeks. Just an idea. But you could do another series about the boy at the end of the movie. If you could find a way to contact me I would be thrilled.
Your biggest fan ALEX.

I finished reading Adrian Howell`s pentalogy, all five books – and in a word, this story is masterfully told. Its fast pace, complex, very believable and carefully woven storyline, interesting characters, and deep dive into the world of psionics make this story an entertaining and enjoyable read. To be honest, I am sorry that the story has ended, and would have enjoyed reading a few more books in the series. I do hope that Adrian is working on a sequel, and would love to see a movie version.

I found "Wild Born" on Bookbub and it was like candy. I whizz through all 5 of them in a week. I loved this series and was sad when I read the last page. The characters were well fleshed out and their motivations made sense. The author doesn't fail to surprise you when he kills off major characters. I hope he continues to thrill us w subsequent books!!

Very good characterization of all characters...I highly place this author up there along with the Dean Koontz books as I am a great fan of many of his books.

I truly hope I will see a follow-up to this 5 book series. He has already laid out a good beginning for an extension of the two main characters, which should make the series a blockbuster.

I really enjoyed this series. It was imaginative, emotional and had a lot of twists and turns. The characters were well developed and shaped by their experiences. Would like to see it continued!

I downloaded the first book thinking it looked interesting and then read the whole series one right after another. I loved the characters and Adrian's progression throughout. I was hoping for an ending that was a bit more upbeat since the entire book was a little dark but the ending did fit the series. All in all loved it.
