Hardly definitive, September 22, 2008

For those of you who do not know, Guardian was a contemporary Christian rock band that was originally formed in the 80's. Their earlier work, (e.g. Miracle Mile and Fire and Love) was distinctly 80's style rock with some awe inspiring guitar work and is highly recommended for any classic rock fan. In the mid 90's they tried something new and experimented with an acoustic album, Swing Swang Swung, which, I believe, is more suited to a broader market. To date, this album is probably their most popular and remains my favourite. It would be a much better investment than this supposed 'definitive' collection. The band then attempted to adjust to new trends within the ever changing rock genre with their release of Buzz and Bottle Rocket. While I thoroughly enjoy anything Guardian and while I highly recommend their work, these later albums are more alternative and are probably not the best place to start when trying to become acquainted with the band. There are a number of tracks from these later albums that feature on this collection. My suggestion, therefore, would be to invest in Swing Swang Swung. If you like it, invest in the rest. Once you become a fan of Tony's chops and Jamie's vocals, you'll never look back!
