Dude I'm 42 and I remember playing this game for hours!!! The game play is similar to Blaster Master. In that, there were two methods of gameplay: shoot-em-up & scroll hunting. Kick-butt game, playarz!!!! Now that retrogaming is so popular with the Gen X crowd; get this game!!! U will not regret it!!Oh yea, one flaw. The password matrix wuz way way too long!!! Atomic Rooster Collectables Rochester NY USA CCGBlaster Master (Worlds of Power)

This review is from: Guardian Legend (Video Game)
Imagine all the best elements of "The Legend of Zelda," "Metroid," "1942," and "Blaster Master" all rolled into one giant code and you have this fantastic game. This is easily one of the best NES games out there."The Guardian Legend" was released in 1989. "The Guardian Legend" is famous for being a multi-genre game, featuring two main gameplay modes: shooter and action adventure. Both are fully realised, and the game has became highly acclaimed in the decades since its released. Initially the game received only mixed reviews when it came out in 1989. The game was not well advertised and, although influential, is not as well known as it should be. Although Samus is the famous "strong female" of the 8-bit era, the Guardian gives even Samus a run for her money. As far as the TGL code referenced by another reviewer, this code was only discovered within the last few years. Apparently TGL throws you into a strange world that is not part of the main game. From what I see, it appears TGL activates hidden zones, just like the hidden worlds in "Metroid". In both titles, the "hidden worlds" are actually not hidden zones at all, but just the game code acting in strange ways when you access it. In both games, the "hidden worlds" are very glitchy (which is to be expected) and will often freeze up or be unplayable. IGN has this to say about "The Guardian Legend": "Featuring a half-and-half game design that blends two distinct types of gameplay into one excellent whole, The Guardian Legend is one of the most influential games in the history of the gaming industry." The game has become one of the most revered NES games in subsequent decades due to the high quality and seamless transition between the multiple genres this game encompses. The video game website IGN rated this title as the 87th greatest game on their top 100 NES games of all time. (For those looking for great unknown NES/Famicom games, you simply MUST play "Moon Crystal", a criminally unknown Famicom exclusive. The graphics are astounding with cutscenes that even outdo "Ninja Gaiden", amazing music, in depth gameplay, and a fantastic storyline. Absolutely amazing! Had this been released in the US for the NES, I feel it would be as revered as the other heavy hitters in the NES canon)
