A fallen angel?, September 16, 1997
By A Customer
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
'The Guardian' paints a beautiful portrait of love and forgiveness, both the love of guardian angels for their charges and the love of God for all of his creations. Tabris is a guardian angel convicted of the ultimate crime, of breaking the only written rule of a guardian angel, the murder of their charge. The other celestials expect God's swift justice, but Tabris is given another chance, another child to guard alongside her given guardian.
The style of the writing grabs and rivets. Every word is filled with emotion, not a sentence is wasted, and details are only revealed when they will make the most impact on the reader. And they do impact...tremendously. The story runs far deeper than a simple crime or mistake. Every character is beautifully developed, especially the dark Tabris and the bright angel Rachmiel.
Anyone with the slightest interest in angels will instantly be drawn into the story. Be sure you have plenty of free time before you pick up the book because you won't be putting it down until the last page is turned.

An touching tale of the heavenly realm of angels., December 9, 1998
This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
I found a copy of "The Guardian" in a used book store over a year ago, on rainy nights I read it to my then 17 year old daughter. The novel touched both our lives, it helped my daughter renew her path to God and it is on my bookshelf of my favorite all time books. The characters are so real and well thought out. This story left us both with a spritual hunger, seeking more of this style of writing. Jane Hamilton is the best of her genre.

Wonderfully refreshing and "Human", July 20, 1998

This review is from: The Guardian/a Novel (Paperback)
This story I have re-read three times now, and each time I see another aspect of each of the charictors. Well thought out and written, it shows a side of a merciful God and Angels who have faults like all of us. There is hope for us yet! My favorites are Tabris and Rachmiel. The relationship which builds is wonderful. ( I do like two other angels, but don't have their names in front of me. The first one who spoke on Tabris' behalf and the one who spared with him.) I would recomend this book to all who are interested in feeling good after they have read it. I am now looking for a second copy for my library.
